Dear Colleagues, Here is a proposed charter for the proposed working group named "Collaboration". As you can see, the name of the chair(s) is not mentioned. Of course the names have to be decided when the wg is formally formed. But, to not delay the discussions about this wg, and to not mix up the two issues (charter and chair) I hereby let you all comment on this proposed wg. An action point as decided upon at the Friday plenary. Patrik Fältström Collaboration Working Group Suggested chairs: tbd The RIPE community decision-making processes are open to anyone, meaning that anyone with an interest can suggest policy, take part in reviewing documents and participate on mailing lists and at RIPE Meetings. To encourage participation from people and organisations outside the traditional RIPE community, a number of special outreach programs have been developed, including a series of "Governmental Roundtable Meetings", at which RIPE community members and government representatives can meet and discuss common areas of interest. Government representatives participate in RIPE Meetings, and the RIPE NCC actively reaches out to governments and others in the public sector to inform them on issues related to the RIPE community and engage them on issues related to RIPE and RIPE NCC activities. The Collaboration Working Group is a forum for discussion focusing on collaboration between the private and public sectors on Internet matters. This kind of collaboration has taken on increased prominence in recent years, as the wider Internet community strives to ensure that all voices are heard and the interests of all parties are considered. Fostering more open dialogue between all stakeholders is vital to ensuring the continued stability of the Internet. The working group discusses the following: 1. Topics raised by working group participants that are of interest to both the public and private sectors 2. The RIPE NCC's current outreach activities will be reported, and the RIPE NCC will seek advice and guidance on future activities. 3. The working group will develop and clarify the RIPE community's position on issues that are of relevance to the public sector or on which a community position has been sought 4. The working group will be responsible for maintenance of the RIPE Document produced by the Enhanced Cooperation Task Force, describing the RIPE community, existing policy development processes and outreach programs The working group is also an important channel through which the RIPE community can communicate with others in the "Information Society".

RIPE Taskforce on Enhanced Cooperation

The Taskforce met last Monday, during RIPE 56, and presented a progress update on its work to the RIPE plenary in its closing session on Friday. The minutes of the Taskforce meeting can be seen in the mailing list archive: http://www.ripe.net/ripe/maillists/archives/ec-tf/2008/index.html The first public draft of the Taskforce's report is available for download from the Taskforce's web page: http://www.ripe.net/ripe/tf/enhanced-cooperation/index.html Further drafts, incorporating points raised in the Taskforce meeting and other comments received from the community, will be uploaded to the same location over the next few weeks. A decision was also taken in the plenary to create a Working Group to to review these matters on an ongoing basis. A draft charter will be sent to this list shortly. RIPE NCC Executive Board Election Results

[Apologies for duplicates] Dear Colleagues, The RIPE NCC General Meeting May 2008 was held Wednesday, 7 May 2008, adjacent to the RIPE 56 Meeting, at the Palace Hotel in Berlin. The meeting agenda included an election to fill two RIPE NCC Executive Board seats for three-year terms. Fahad AlShirawi and Andreas Wittkemper were voted onto the Board, replacing Kees Neggers and Jim Reid. There were 111 attendees excluding RIPE NCC staff and observers from the other Regional Internet Registries. In addition to the Executive Board election, the RIPE NCC members approved three resolutions. The RIPE NCC 2007 Audited Financial Report was approved. Jaap Akkerhuis, Remko van Mook and Olaf Kolkman were appointed to the panel of RIPE NCC arbiters. And the RIPE NCC Executive Board was discharged with regard to its actions as set out in the 2007 Annual Report. The RIPE NCC would like to thank its membership for the input and support given at the General Meeting and congratulates our newly elected Executive Board members. DNSMON document, ripe-429, available online

[Apologies for duplicate e-mails] Dear Colleagues, At the RIPE 55 Meeting, Ondr(ej Surý (CZ.NIC) made a proposal to the RIPE NCC Services Working Group suggesting that the scope of the RIPE NCC's DNS Monitoring (DNSMON) service be extended to permit the monitoring of ENUM domains. During the meeting, the working group reached consensus and approved the proposal. The RIPE NCC has now implemented the requested changes. The DNSMON document has also been simplified and republished as a new RIPE Document.
