Dear colleagues, This is a reminder that the RIPE Labs Article Competition for RIPE 89 is open! If you have something interesting to say about the Internet, but you don't usually get the chance to come share those things at RIPE Meetings, this is a really good opportunity to fix that. The author of the winning article will receive free tickets, travel, and accommodation for the upcoming RIPE Meeting in Prague this October. Dear colleagues, Join the next RIPE NCC hackathon focused on Green Tech this December! Our goals are to develop tools, policies and protocols to reduce the environmental impact of Internet infrastructure. RIPE NCC hackathons are non-commercial and non-competitive. We focus on cooperation and openness - all the code produced is FLOSS, and all the results are published on public software repositories, wikis, and on blogs to help others further create, experiment, and develop ideas and tools. Hi everyone, I hope you're all doing well. We've made some updates to the charter based on our last meeting's discussion and the feedback we received. We tried to incorporate everyone's suggestions as best as we could. Please take a few minutes to look over the revised charter. We would like to get your feedback until 30th of August. - snip - The Security Working Group is committed to fostering collaboration, sharing best practices, and addressing security challenges within the RIPE community. The primary objective of the WG is to enhance the security, resilience, and stability of the Internet infrastructure within our region. Tackling abuse of Internet infrastructure and resources is a core goal of the WG, as well as: - Collaborating with stakeholders to develop and advocate for best practices, guidelines, and standards for securing Internet resources - Facilitating information sharing and cooperation among relevant entities - Providing education, training, and outreach initiatives to raise awareness of security issues and promote best practices adoption - snap - Kind regards, Brian, Tobias and Markus

Mailing Lists Migration from Mailman 2 to Mailman 3 Begins

Dear colleagues, In response to the community concerns regarding using the outdated Mailman 2 software for the RIPE mailing lists, RIPE NCC is starting the migration process to the Mailman 3 software suite. This upgrade will enhance the user interface and message archives for these lists. We expect to complete this work by 14 July 2024. Previously, we successfully updated our internal mailing lists to Mailman 3 and the ASO and NRO mailing lists, containerising them in the process. This latest migration extends those improvements to these external mailing lists as well. What will change? Mailman 2 and Mailman 3 are entirely different products, which brings some changes in the observed behaviour. - The location of the email archives. The new address of the archive will be: https://mailman.ripe.net/archives/list/{list-name}@ripe.net/ - The subscription address will be changed to {list-name}-join(a)ripe.net - To maintain historical links to the archives, we’re planning to turn this into a static website at: https://lists.ripe.net/ The mail delivery process for the existing subscribers will not change, so they will continue to receive emails from the lists as usual, with a potential one-time delay of up to four hours during the actual transition. RIPE89 Call for Presentations now open!

Dear colleagues, The RIPE Programme Committee (PC) is now seeking content proposals for plenary presentations, lighting talks, tutorials and BoFs at RIPE 89. This meeting will take place in Prague, Czechia, from 28th October to 1st November 2024. RIPE 89 will be a hybrid meeting, so both in-person and remote presentations are encouraged and will be accepted. The deadline to submit a presentation proposal is Friday, 23rd August 2024. Proposals submitted after this date will only be considered if there are still time slots available.
