Dear all, The RIPE NCC Community Projects Fund opened its call for applications back in February and 42 applications from 19 countries were submitted to the Selection Committee over the 16 week application period. The RIPE NCC Community Projects Fund Selection Committee reviewed all applications and is happy to announce that the following five projects have been selected as 2024 recipients of the fund: - Melchior Aelmans - Open Source Distributed Symmetric Key Exchange Implementation - Universidad de Granada - Network Engineering & Security Group - RIPE Atlas Distributed Network Telescope - Mulini SRL - Policy Certification and Verification for Cybersecurity in the Internet of Things (IoT) - Universitat Politècnica de Catalunya (UPC) / Consorci de Serveis Universitaris de Catalunya (CSUC) - GuardXP: From Data Privacy to Improved Cybersecurity - Soroush Rafiee Rad - Open Domain Rank: A Community-Developed Measure for Domain Reputation Ranking Based on Unique Identifiers’ Relationships Congratulations to all recipients and thanks to everyone who applied for the Community Projects Fund this year. Your ideas and efforts are a testament to the innovation and commitment within the Internet community. We look forward to seeing how the funded projects will develop and while not all applications could be funded, we appreciate the time and effort put into every submission. RIPE 89 Highlights and Thank You!

Dear colleagues, RIPE 89 ended with a total of 645 attendees checked in onsite in Prague and 143 checked in online across the meeting week, with more joining in via the livestream and YouTube. Thank you all for making this RIPE Meeting such a success! We were happy to see active participation at this meeting from both online and onsite participants. We would like to thank all the speakers, Working Group Chairs, the Programme Committee, the Code of Conduct team and sponsors for their contributions. Over the past week, we have had many exciting plenary sessions, lightning talks, Working Group sessions, BoFs and social events. Help Choose the next RIPE Chair

We are looking for volunteers to help on the NomCom that selects the next RIPE chair team. If you have checked in for three out of the most recent five RIPE meetings we want your help. Especially if you are relatively new to RIPE. If you do not volunteer, 10 of these people will get to make the decision: https://ripenomcom.org/volunteers/ . It is not just another boring committee and it is not and endless job either. The committee will start in January 2025 and not do much until the list of candidates is final. Call for Volunteers to Serve on the 2025 RIPE NomCom

Dear RIPE Participant, RIPE will choose its next chair and a vice chair by way of a nominating committee. Ten volunteers, randomly selected from the community, will make that choice with the help of the whole community. These ten people plus some non-voting liaisons and advisors will form the NomCom. The NomCom will start to work around January 2025 and make its selection soon after the next RIPE meeting in May of that year. The job of the NomCom is to select people who have what it takes and also have the support of the community. As chair of the 2025 NomCom, my job is to organise the work and help the volunteers with making their choice. Therefore I call on you to volunteer. Ideally, we are looking for about 100 volunteers representing a broad range of RIPE participants. Ten of those people will be randomly selected to serve on the NomCom. To qualify for serving as a voting volunteer you have to have attended three of the five most recent RIPE meetings including the meeting taking place next week in Prague. The announcement is available at: https://www.nro.net/nro-announcement-on-afrinic/ ------------------------------ NRO Announcement on AFRINIC Re: Restoration of the Order Appointing the Official Receiver for AFRINIC The NRO welcomes the announcement published on AFRINIC’s website, which reads as follows: ———– The Supreme Court of Mauritius made the following ruling on 15 October 2024. The ruling sets aside the appeal initiated by AFRINIC on 28 September 2023 and restores the judgement made by the learned Judge of the Commercial Division of the Supreme Court delivered on 12 September 2023. This ruling also restores the previous order appointing the Official Receiver and providing the Official Receiver with a two-month timeframe to organise the elections in accordance with AFRINIC’s constitution and complete the entire process from the date of this judgement. On Behalf of the Official Receiver ———— The NRO views the ruling, which prioritizes the importance of organizing elections, as a positive development. We look forward to the successful execution of elections which are fundamental to restoring AFRINIC’s governance and returning the organisation to full function. We encourage the AFRINIC members and community to participate actively and consciously in the election process. BCOP TF meeting in Prague on Monday...

Dear community, Usually I would not write here about the BCOP TF sessions at RIPE meetings, but this one is a little bit different... After the report from "Documenting the best operational practices of running networks during the war (Ukraine)" topic - we'll open a discussion about if we should start documenting what our community consensus process actually is. Currently, we use bits and pieces from the IETF and other organizations, but the problem is that this is not documented anywhere and every RIPE community member may have their own version in their mind. That being said, I would like to invite all interested in this topic to the BCOP TF session at the end of Monday, so we can discuss it, figure out if we need this documented and (if yes) - maybe form a small group of people that will start working on it. https://ripe89.ripe.net/programme/meeting-plan/bcop-tf/ Cheers and thnx!
