Last Chance to Volunteer for the NomCom

You have until Sunday to volunteer for the 2025 NomCom. So far 42 people have done so. There are at least 424 RIPE meeting attendees eligible to serve this time. While 42 is of course *the* answer ;-) we can do better! We need a high quality and diverse committee. So please, please volunteer if you have attended three of the past five RIPE meetings, remote participation counts if you checked in. The more people volunteer the lower the odds of being selected ;-). Nominations are being accepted until Monday, 16 December 2024 at 23:59 UTC. The selected candidate will serve for a three-year term, starting immediately after the ICANN Annual General Assembly to be held during the ICANN 84 Meeting, scheduled to take place in October 2025. ----------------------- Eligibility Requirements ----------------------- All nominated candidates must meet the selection criteria and conflict of interest requirements outlined in Article 7 of the ICANN Bylaws and will undergo a due diligence review by an independent ICANN contractor. ----------------------- Nomination Process ----------------------- Community members are encouraged to submit their nominations via email to nominations(a)aso.icann.org by Monday, 16 December 2024 at 23:59 UTC. RIPE 90 Call for Presentations

Dear colleagues, The RIPE Programme Committee (PC) is seeking proposals for plenary presentations, lightning talks, tutorials and BoFs at RIPE 90. This meeting will take place in Lisbon, Portugal from 12 to 16 May 2025. The deadline to submit a presentation proposal is Monday, 3 March 2025. Proposals submitted after this date will only be considered if there are still slots available. This will be a hybrid meeting, so submissions for both in-person and remote presentations are encouraged. Submissions must have original content and should avoid significant use of generative AI except to assist with spelling, grammar and production of images. Please note that the RIPE Meeting is scheduled from midday Monday until midday Friday. If your presentation is accepted, you could be asked to present on any day, so please ensure that you will be available throughout the event when submitting. You will be notified in advance of when you are scheduled to present. Draft Document: The Relationship between RIPE and the RIPE NCC (for your review)

Dear colleagues, Over the last few years, we worked on the recommendations by the RIPE NomCom 2020 [1]. One recommendation was still open: "to document community consensus on the relationship between RIPE and the RIPE NCC". We are excited to share a first draft document with you that describes this relationship as it has evolved from 1992 until the present time. Since Daniel Karrenberg has been involved in both the RIPE community and the RIPE NCC from the beginning, we asked Daniel to author such a document. ICP-2 Questionnaire Deadline Extended to 6 December 2024

This message is sent on behalf of the Number Resource Organization (NRO). -------------------------- The full announcement is available at: https://www.nro.net/nro-announces-that-the-deadline-for-the-icp-2-questionn… -------------------------- NRO Announces that the Deadline for the ICP-2 Questionnaire Has Been Extended to 6 December 2024 -------------------------- The NRO has extended the deadline to submit responses to the questionnaire on the proposed principles to update ICP-2. The new deadline is Friday, 6 December 2024. The questionnaire takes approximately 15 minutes to fill out and can be found at: https://ripe-ncc.typeform.com/icp-2 ICP-2, first created in 2001, identifies the criteria for an organisation seeking to become a new RIR. In October 2023, the Number Resource Organization Number Council (NRO NC) was asked by the NRO Executive Council to update ICP-2. This proposed principles document is the first major step in the work of revising ICP-2. It sets forth the core principles that the NRO NC (ASO AC) believes should be reflected in the next version of ICP-2. In addition to principles on RIR governance, ecosystem, lifecycle, recognition and operation, the document also provides principles for the potential ‘derecognition’ of an RIR if it fails to adhere to the criteria established. Update on the Community Projects Fund 2024

Dear all, After the announcement of this year’s Community Projects Fund recipients, some challenges emerged with the RIPE Atlas distributed network telescope project which would have prevented the project from achieving the goals outlined in the project plan. After careful consideration, the Selection Committee made the difficult decision to withdraw funding for the project. While we understand this is really disappointing for the recipients, we sincerely hope they will continue initiatives that bring value to our community and the Internet. The Selection Committee has now chosen another project to support from our pool of finalists: OpenPenny - An open-source tool to identify non-spoofed traffic. The amendments are related to include ICANN Grant Programs to the current text of the bylaws of the above mentioned articles. ------------------------------- Notice of Board Approval of Fundamental Bylaws Amendments ------------------------------- The ICANN Board approved amendments to the Fundamental Bylaws to Articles 4, sections 4.2 and 4.3 on 11 November 2024.
