Reminder: ASO AC Call for Nominations for Seat 10 on the ICANN Board

Dear colleagues, This is a final reminder for the Address Supporting Organization Address Council (ASO AC) call for nominations for Seat Number 10 on the ICANN Board. The nominations period will close at 23:59 UTC on 13 December 2015. The ASO AC election procedures can be found in Section 7 of the ASO Operating Procedures and are available on the ASO website at: https://aso.icann.org/documents/operational-documents/operating-procedures-… Article VI of the ICANN Bylaws states that: "At any given time, no two Directors selected by a Supporting Organization shall be citizens from the same country or of countries located in the same Geographic Region.” The ASO AC selection for Seat 9 of the ICANN Board of Directors resides in the ARIN region, so nominees for Seat 10 cannot reside in the ARIN region. Submit nominations by email to <nominations2016(a)aso.icann.org> along with the following information: - Full name of the person being nominated - Contact email address for the person being nominated - Contact telephone number (if available) of the person being nominated - Full name of the person making the nomination - Contact email address for the person making the nomination - Contact telephone number of the person making the nomination All candidates must sign a Letter of Certification declaring that they are of good character. The selected candidate will undergo an independent due diligence review by an ICANN contractor, and announcement of the candidate will follow once this review has been successfully completed. The time frame for the selection process is as follows: - Nomination Phase — 30 September 2015 to 13 December 2015 - Comment Phase — 14 December 2015 to 13 March 2016 - Interview Phase — 13 January 2016 to 13 March 2016 - Selection Process — 14 March 2016 to 4 April 2016 - Due Diligence Review — 5 April 2016 to 20 May 2016 - Announcement — around 21 May 2016 All phases will conclude at 23:59 UTC on the date specified. Rob Blokzijl Dies Peacefully Aged 72

Dear colleagues, I have the painful duty to inform you that Rob Blokzijl, RIPE Chair Emeritus died at his home in the Netherlands yesterday after a long illness. https://www.ripe.net/participate/ripe/rob-blokzijl-obituary This is a sad moment for all of us because we loose a leader whose influence permeates the RIPE community and the way we conduct our work. Rob will live on in this way. Dear colleagues, Here is our monthly overview of open policy proposals and their stage in the RIPE Policy Development Process (PDP). If you wish to join the discussion about a particular proposal, please do so on the relevant working group mailing list. Proposals Open for Discussion: 2015-04, "RIPE Resource Transfer Policies" Proposals Awaiting Input: 2015-05, "Revision of Last /8 Allocation Criteria" Proposals Withdrawn: 2014-03, "Remove Multihoming Requirement for AS Number Assignments" Proposal Overviews: PROPOSAL: 2015-04, "RIPE Resource Transfer Policies" OVERVIEW: Aims to create a single transfer policy with all relevant information on the transfer of Internet number resources, replacing text in several RIPE Policies. The proposal also introduces a 24-month holding period for IPv4 addresses and 16-bit ASNs after any change of holdership. RIPE NCC IMPACT ANALYSIS: Includes the point that the current proposal version needs further clarification regarding what kinds of entities can receive transfers of allocated resources. This would only be possible if the LIR has not transferred any IPv4 address space before. STATUS: Discussion Phase – Awaiting decision from proposer FULL PROPOSAL: https://www.ripe.net/participate/policies/proposals/2015-05 ===== The following proposal has been withdrawn since the last update. PROPOSAL: 2014-03, "Remove Multihoming Requirement for AS Number Assignments" OVERVIEW: Aimed to ease the requirements when requesting an Autonomous System (AS) Number. To this end, the following actions were proposed: - Remove the need for evaluation - Limit the number of AS Numbers per organisation to 1,000 - Require that 16-bit AS Numbers are multihomed after nine months STATUS: Withdrawn REASON FOR WITHDRAWAL: The proposers decided to withdraw the proposal due to the inability to find an acceptable solution which satisfied all parties. Dear colleagues, Consistent with the ASO Memorandum of Understanding and ICANN Bylaws, the Address Supporting Organization Address Council (ASO AC) calls for nominations for Seat Number 10 on the ICANN Board of Directors. Nominations will close at 23:59 UTC on Sunday, 13 December 2015. The time frame for the selection process is as follows: – Nomination Phase – 30 September 2015 to 13 December 2015 – Comment Phase – 14 December 2015 to 13 March 2016 – Interview Phase – 13 January 2016 to 13 March 2016 – Selection Process – 14 March 2016 to 4 April 2016 – Due Diligence Review – 5 April 2016 to 20 May 2016 – Announcement – Around 21 May 2016 The ICANN Bylaws state that no two directors selected by a Supporting Organization can come from the same geographic region. Because the ASO AC selection for Seat 9 is from the ARIN region, nominees for Seat 10 cannot also come from this region. NRO NC Election Result

Dear colleagues, We are pleased to announce that Nurani Nimpuno was elected to the Number Resource Organization Number Council (NRO NC) at a Plenary session of the RIPE 71 Meeting in Bucharest on 20 November 2015. Nurani will serve a three-year term from 1 January 2016 to 31 December 2018. The election was to fill the seat being vacated by Dmitry Kohmanyuk. Introducing the RIPE NCC's New Look

Dear colleagues, Today the RIPE NCC is unveiling a fresh new look across its website and printed materials, at the heart of which is a new logo. As the RIPE NCC has evolved over time, it became apparent that our old logo, which had not changed much for 20 years, no longer represented everything that the RIPE NCC is and all that we do. During this time, our visual identity was diluted and became scattered as we developed new services, tools and departments that each had their own look and feel. Finally, the old logo was difficult to work with and use across various printed and online media. For these reasons, we decided it was time to update our look with a new design that is modern, easy to work with, and represents our core values, the community we represent, and the services we offer. The new logo was rolled out across the www.ripe.net website earlier this morning and we invite you to take a look. The three hexagons reflect our function as a registry, the services we offer and our coordination role, with the community at the intersection. Also reflected are our core values of transparency, engagement and inclusiveness.
