Dear colleagues, At RIPE 73 there was support for a review of the RIPE community's accountability, by looking at its current procedures, documentation and structures. An Accountability Task Force has been established to carry out this work and will have its first meeting in the coming weeks, after which a charter and additional information will be published. A mailing list will also be created for the Task Force’s discussions and the archives will be publicly available. Migration Datacenter

Hello, We are going to migrate from our actually datacenter to another one. We have /22 IPs block and not have AS number, our datacenter announce them. Our plan is as follows: - We already add new route objects before migration and will remove old after migration. - At dawn on Sunday, November 27 about 3:00 AM, we will shut down all our servers from the current data center. - At that point we will delete the current route ASXXXX in RIPE DB from inetnum XXX.XXX.XX.0/22 and only the route object corresponding to new datacenter will remain. - We will contact new datacenter to activate our IP block on their router and configure the requested gateway. - We will dismantle the entire rack from old datacenter and move it to the new datacenter where we will start up all our servers again. We need to know if the procedure is correct and very important, the time it takes to propagate the new route of our IP block since we delete the current ASXXXXX and the new ASXXXX is activated by new datacenter. We also need to know if we depend on any action by the current data center to complete this procedure. For example, if they have to remove our block from their AS or their router and that would happen in case they refused to do so on the date indicated for the migration. Thanks and regards. Paris, France In conjunction with IEEE ICC 2017 http://scpa.it.ubi.pt/2017/ ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ Selected papers will be invited to the Special Issue on Smart Protocols and Algorithms of the International Journal Network Protocols and Algorithms (ISSN: 1943-3581) or to the Special Issue on Recent Advances on Communications and Networking Technology Journal (ISSN: 2215-082X (Online); ISSN: 2215-0811 (Print)). Communication protocols and algorithms are needed to communicate network devices and exchange data between them. The appearance of new technologies usually comes with a protocol procedure and communication rules that allows data communication while taking profit of this new technology. Recent advances in hardware and communication mediums allow proposing new rules, conventions and data structures which could be used by network devices to communicate across the network. Moreover, devices with higher processing capacity let us include more complex algorithms that can be used by the network device to enhance the communication procedure. Smart communication protocols and algorithms make use of several methods and techniques (such as machine learning techniques, decision making techniques, knowledge representation, network management, network optimization, problem solution techniques, and so on), to communicate the network devices to transfer data between them. They can be used to perceive the network conditions, or the user behavior, in order to dynamically plan, adapt, decide, take the appropriate actions, and learn from the consequences of its actions. The algorithms can make use of the information gathered from the protocol in order to sense the environment, plan actions according to the input, take consciousness of what is happening in the environment, and take the appropriate decisions using a reasoning engine. Goals such as decide which scenario fits best its end-to-end purpose, or environment prediction, can be achieved with smart protocols and algorithms. Moreover, they could learn from the pas! t and use this knowledge to improve future decisions. In this workshop, researchers are encouraged to submit papers focused on the design, development, analysis or optimization of smart communication protocols or algorithms at any communication layer. Algorithms and protocols based on artificial intelligence techniques for network management, network monitoring, quality of service enhancement, performance optimization and network secure are included in the workshop. We welcome technical papers presenting analytical research, simulations, practical results, position papers addressing the pros and cons of specific proposals, and papers addressing the key problems and solutions. The topics suggested by the conference can be discussed in term of concepts, state of the art, standards, deployments, implementations, running experiments and applications. BoF follow-up: Creation of IoT-Discuss mailing list

Dear colleagues, During the Internet of Things BoF in Madrid, several participants commented on the need to strengthen the information exchange on this topic. Noting the wide variety of the topics and concerns that would fall under such a broad term as the Internet of Things, while it the same time too specific for any existing mailing list, it was concluded that the creation of a dedicated mailing list would be a feasible way forward in centralising the information available, while leaving open the option to take specific topics to specialist working groups or other venues. As we announced during the meeting, we have now set up this dedicated mailing list called “IoT Discussion”. The aim of this list is to facilitate the exchange of information concerning the Internet of Things, particularly as it may have impact on the RIPE NCC, RIPE or our stakeholders' operations. The list is also a platform to inform each other about proceedings in other relevant standards bodies or governance structures, and may be used to discuss and formulate common positions among participants on IoT-related topics. If you take interest in this topic or participate in other discussions surrounding the IoT, we would encourage you to subscribe to this mailing list. NRO NC Election Result

On the completion of her current term on 31 December 2016, Filiz will go on to serve another three-year term from 1 January 2017 to 31 December 2019. RIPE 73 - Thursday's highlights

¡Hola! Thursday was a busy day at RIPE 73 with 614 attendees checked-in (of 660 registered) and plenty of parallel sessions taking place through the day. Highlights included: - In the Routing WG, Alexander Azimov reported that his work on “ISP Border Definition” has become an IETF draft, with a second draft to be submitted to the IETF soon. - In the Cooperation WG, RACI attendee and lawyer Joanna Kulesza posed some very interesting questions to the RIPE community and the technical community at large on cybersecurity due diligence. - In the Anti-Abuse WG, Europol EC3 presented on issues regarding RIPE Database registration of sub-allocations and assignments, asking the community for help in drafting a solution. - In the Open Source WG, Nick Hilliard presented on Bird’s Eye, a service for querying BIRD that he developed with his team during the IXP Hackathon.
