Dear all,
After the announcement of this year’s Community Projects Fund recipients,
some challenges emerged with the RIPE Atlas distributed network telescope
project which would have prevented the project from achieving the goals
outlined in the project plan.
After careful consideration, the Selection Committee made the difficult
decision to withdraw funding for the project. While we understand this is
really disappointing for the recipients, we sincerely hope they will
continue initiatives that bring value to our community and the Internet.
The Selection Committee has now chosen another project to support from our
pool of finalists: OpenPenny - An open-source tool to identify non-spoofed

As a Decisional Participant, the Address Supporting Organization
received a notification from the ICANN Secretary requiring Decisional
Participants to promptly inform their constituents of the delivery of
below ICANN Board decisions on Fundamental amendments in Article 4,
Sections 4.2 and 4.3 of the ICANN Bylaws.
The amendments are related to include ICANN Grant Programs to the
current text of the bylaws of the above mentioned articles.

Under the ICANN Bylaws, delivery of the Secretary’s Notices triggers
an Approval Action Community Forum to be convened and concluded during
the period beginning upon the Approval Action Board Notification Date
(11 November 2024) and ending at 11:59 pm (PDT) on the 30th day after
the Approval Action Board Notification Date (11 December 2024); or
during the next scheduled ICANN public meeting (ICANN81). Please refer
to Article 1.2, Annex D of the ICANN Bylaws for additional details on
Approval Process

and note that Approval Action Community Forum is convened at the
direction of the EC Administration (ECA).
Following the expiration of the Approval Action Community Forum Period
(11 December 2024), the 21-day Approval Action Decision Period will
begin, expiring at 23:59 PST on Wednesday, 1 January 2025. Because
this Decision Period is scheduled to conclude over a widely-observed
holiday period, if the Empowered Community is interested in an
extension of the expiration until Wednesday, 8 January 2025, ICANN
will confirm in writing its agreement to such an extension

The RIPE NCC Community Projects Fund opened its call for applications back
in February and 42 applications from 19 countries were submitted to the
Selection Committee over the 16 week application period.
The RIPE NCC Community Projects Fund Selection Committee reviewed all
applications and is happy to announce that the following five projects have

Looking ahead, the Community Projects Fund will be paused in 2025 as we
undertake a review and gather feedback from the community. This pause will
