Dear colleagues, Over the last few years, we worked on the recommendations by the RIPE NomCom 2020 [1]. One recommendation was still open: "to document community consensus on the relationship between RIPE and the RIPE NCC". We are excited to share a first draft document with you that describes this relationship as it has evolved from 1992 until the present time. Since Daniel Karrenberg has been involved in both the RIPE community and the RIPE NCC from the beginning, we asked Daniel to author such a document. We are looking for volunteers to help on the NomCom that selects the next RIPE chair team. If you have checked in for three out of the most recent five RIPE meetings we want your help. Call for Volunteers to Serve on the 2025 RIPE NomCom

Dear RIPE Participant, RIPE will choose its next chair and a vice chair by way of a nominating committee. Ten volunteers, randomly selected from the community, will make that choice with the help of the whole community. These ten people plus some non-voting liaisons and advisors will form the NomCom. The NomCom will start to work around January 2025 and make its selection soon after the next RIPE meeting in May of that year. The job of the NomCom is to select people who have what it takes and also have the support of the community. As chair of the 2025 NomCom, my job is to organise the work and help the volunteers with making their choice. Therefore I call on you to volunteer. Ideally, we are looking for about 100 volunteers representing a broad range of RIPE participants. Ten of those people will be randomly selected to serve on the NomCom. To qualify for serving as a voting volunteer you have to have attended three of the five most recent RIPE meetings including the meeting taking place next week in Prague. The ruling sets aside the appeal initiated by AFRINIC on 28 September 2023 and restores the judgement made by the learned Judge of the Commercial Division of the Supreme Court delivered on 12 September 2023. This ruling also restores the previous order appointing the Official Receiver and providing the Official Receiver with a two-month timeframe to organise the elections in accordance with AFRINIC’s constitution and complete the entire process from the date of this judgement. Dear community, Usually I would not write here about the BCOP TF sessions at RIPE meetings, but this one is a little bit different... After the report from "Documenting the best operational practices of running networks during the war (Ukraine)" topic - we'll open a discussion about if we should start documenting what our community consensus process actually is. Currently, we use bits and pieces from the IETF and other organizations, but the problem is that this is not documented anywhere and every RIPE community member may have their own version in their mind. Revising the Criteria for the Accreditation of Regional Internet Registries

Dear colleagues, I would like to share an update on the ongoing work to revise the criteria for the accreditation of Regional Internet Registries. The NRO NC has published a document with proposed principles for the recognition of RIRs and ongoing requirements that RIRs should meet. New Report: How to Get IP Addresses for Your Network

The research combines financial data from IPv4 transactions, current market prices from various platforms, and insights from interviews with ISPs, mobile operators, IPv4 transfer brokers, government representatives, and network consultants. The NRO Invites the Internet Community to Participate in the ICP-2 Questionnaire

This message is sent on behalf of the Number Resource Organization ------------------ The full announcement is available at: https://www.nro.net/the-nro-invites-internet-community-to-participate-in-ic… ------------------ The Number Resource Organization (NRO), the coordinating body for the global Regional Internet Registries (RIRs), is calling on individuals in the global Internet community to participate in a questionnaire focused on a proposed principles document that will be used to update the Internet Coordination Policy-2 (ICP-2). ICP-2, first created in 2001, identifies the criteria for an organization seeking to become a new RIR. In October 2023, the Address Supporting Organization Address Council (ASO AC) was asked by the NRO Executive Council to update the ICP-2. This proposed principles document is the first major step in the ASO AC’s work of revising ICP-2. It sets forth the core principles that the ASO AC believes should be reflected in the next version of ICP-2. In addition to principles on RIR governance, ecosystem, lifecycle, recognition and operation, the document also provides principles for the potential ‘derecognition’ of an RIR if it fails to adhere to the criteria established. The ASO AC will take into account the comments received to draft a revised version of the ICP-2 document to present to stakeholders for further feedback. Dear colleagues, Is your organisation interested in hosting one of our regional meetings? We are launching a call for hosts for: - CAPIF 4, which will take place on 25-26 September 2025 - SEE 14, which will take place on 21-22 April 2026 As the events take place outside the Netherlands, the RIPE NCC is dependent on a local host to support the organisation and delivery. Anti-Abuse WG: Re-Chartering Discussion: Consensus Decision & Next Steps

Good Afternoon, This is a copy of a post I sent to AA-WG earlier today. Please send any reactions or comments to anti-abuse-wg(a)ripe.net Following on from the list discussion pre-RIPE 88, the discussion at the meeting, and the subsequent refining of the proposed charter and further discussion, the WG Co-Chairs, after discussion with the RIPE Chair Team, are declaring consensus on the re-chartering and re-naming of the WG. The charter is as posted to the group on the 29th of July by Markus: ************* The Security Working Group is committed to fostering collaboration, sharing best practices, and addressing security challenges within the RIPE community. The primary objective of the WG is to enhance the security, resilience, and stability of the Internet infrastructure within our region. Tackling abuse of Internet infrastructure and resources is a core goal of the WG, as well as: - Collaborating with stakeholders to develop and advocate for best practices, guidelines, and standards for securing Internet resources - Facilitating information sharing and cooperation among relevant entities - Providing education, training, and outreach initiatives to raise awareness of security issues and promote best practices adoption ************* and we are confirming that the new name of the WG will be the RIPE Security Working Group. Our first hybrid meeting will be at RIPE 89 in Prague and, between then and now we'll sort out the logistics of the change including mailing lists, websites, fancy logos, branded merchandise etc. etc. There will be further communications on this, of course, but the current plan is to migrate this list, in the whole part, to the new WG, meaning no action would be required on the part of the subscribers. More on that as we have it. I'd like to thank my fellow Co-Chairs, the RIPE Chair Team, the NCC and, of course, the wonderful WG members, for all your help with this discussion, decision & process. I would also like to thank everyone who has been a part of the Anti-Abuse Working Group over the years for your discussion and work. A lot has happened and been done since we rechartered from Anti-Spam to Anti-Abuse in 2008 and it absolutely would not have happened without the community!
