Dear colleagues, Many thanks to those who attended the BoF yesterday. In addition, we have noticed the most common RIPE database issues flagged by the community in both the 2019 RIPE NCC and the 2020 RDBTF surveys can be summarized into two interrelated categories: data accuracy, and ease-of-use. 2. Suggested solutions from the community have been to enforce validation and data checks, and upgrades to the user interface and search functionality. What do you think are the causes of these issues? Hervé Clément Appointed to the NRO NC

Dear colleagues, Hervé Clément has been appointed to the Number Resource Organization Number Council (NRO NC) by the RIPE NCC Executive Board. The announcement was made during closing plenary of the RIPE 81 meeting on 30 October 2020. Hervé will serve a three-year term from 1 January 2021 to 31 December 2023. RIPE 81 Highlights Day 1

Dear colleagues, The first day of RIPE 81 kicked off with 1173 attendees registered for the meeting. Here are the highlights. The meeting was opened by Mirjam Kuhne, the RIPE Chair, who welcomed attendees for our second fully virtual RIPE Meeting. Presentations throughout the plenary sessions were well attended with over 680 participating on Meetecho and more joining in via the RIPE 81 livestream. We faced a few technical problems at the beginning, but those were resolved by the afternoon sessions. Thank you to all our speakers and participants for your patience and support yesterday! We wrapped up the first day with informal sessions to meet the new RIPE Chair Mirjam Kuhne and Vice Chair Niall O'Reilly and the RIPE NCC Executive Board. This message is sent on behalf of the Number Resource Organization (NRO). *** Reminder: ASO AC Call for Nominations for Seat 9 on the ICANN Board of Directors On 15 September 2020, the Address Supporting Organization Address Council (ASO AC) issued a call for nominations for Seat 9 of the ICANN Board of Directors. Nominations are being accepted until 15 November 2020. The selected candidate will serve for a three-year term, which will begin at the conclusion of the ICANN Annual General Assembly at the ICANN 72 Meeting, scheduled from 23-28 October 2021 in Seattle, USA. Eligibility Requirements ------------------------ All nominated candidates must meet the selection criteria and conflict of interest requirements as outlined in Article 7 of the ICANN Bylaws[1]. The nominated candidates will undergo a due diligence review by an independent ICANN contractor. Nomination Process ------------------ Community members are invited to submit nominations by email to nominations [at] aso [dot] icann [dot] org by Sunday, 15 November 2020 at 23:59 UTC. Update on Code of Conduct TF

Dear RIPE Community, We will be giving an update on the progress of the Code of Conduct TF during the Community Plenary on Friday 30 October: https://ripe81.ripe.net/programme/meeting-plan/ripe-community-plenary/ We recognize that it is not always possible for everyone to attend every session, so we wanted to place a status update on the record on this list. The Code of Conduct TF was established in mid-September 2020. It comprises: - Denesh Bhabuta - Brian Nisbet - Leo Vegoda - Chair - Salam Yamout We are supported by Antony Gollan and Athina Fragkouli from the RIPE NCC. We are chartered to develop three key documents: 1. RIPE Code of Conduct 2. Code of Conduct team selection 3. Reporting and operational procedures for the Code of Conduct team We hoped to have an update to the RIPE Code of Conduct ready to share and discuss during RIPE 81 but that proved overly ambitious. We anticipate sharing an update during November. We have reviewed the discussion of v3 and are using that to help us work out where to update the existing text. We will only move on to the next two actions when there is a consensus in the RIPE Community for the updated Code of Conduct document. Dear colleagues, Since RIPE 79, the RIPE Database Requirements Task Force is working on a document to provide new requirements specification for the RIPE Database. We have now published our second draft and invite you to share your input on this mailing list and during our BoF that will take place Monday, 26 October from 16:00-17:00 (UTC+1).
