We have published a new article on RIPE Labs, outlining the RIPE NCC's general strategy for engaging with the institutions of the European Union. It also looks specifically at recent legislative proposals regarding electronic identification (eID) and network and information security (NIS):

The ENOG 5/RIPE NCC Regional Meeting takes place from 27-28 May at the
Corinthia Hotel in St. Petersburg.
The conference provides a unique opportunity for regional Internet
operators and service providers to share experiences in a wide range of
areas and contribute ideas for the regional development of the Internet.
The program is full of interesting presentations by industry leaders and
will include ample opportunity to discuss the following topics:

- Peering and Internet Exchange Points
- Best current practices
- DNSSEC
- OpenFlow
