FTP Access ---------- All RIPE documents and Internet RFC`s are available via anonymous FTP from host ftp.ripe.net. Type "ftp ftp.ripe.net". Login with username "anonymous" supplying your email address as the password. After logging in, type "cd ripe/docs/" followed by the command "get filename". The relevant filenames for this document are: ripe-120.txt for the ASCII version ripe-120.ps for the PostScript version Electronic Mail Retrieval of Documents -------------------------------------- Documents can also be retrieved from the RIPE document store using a mail server program. For more information on how to use the program, send email to: mail-server(a)ripe.net with "send HELP" in the body text. RIPE NCC Interactive Information Server --------------------------------------- Type "telnet info.ripe.net". This is a menu driven service allows the document store to be browsed. After reading documents you are prompted as to whether you would like to receive an email copy of the document you have just read. If you would, you simply enter your email address and the document will be mailed to you. Below are details of alternative methods of access. Gopher Access ------------- The same documents are available via a "gopher" server at "gopher gopher.ripe.net". Folks, below the RIPE DNS Hostcount for September 1994. - some people aksed why CS has shows less hosts every month, but that is of course because the CS domain has been split into SK and CZ and slowyly moving everything away from CS. - this months increase is a nice 53,000 or 6.8% to 888,000. Or.... Move the PRIDE course from Wahsington D.C. to MontainView. Hold the class either before (Dec 4) or after (Dec 10). It's hard for us in Asia to justify a trip for a one day event. Announcing the PRIDE courses November 1995 ------------------------------------------ This is a preliminary announcement for the forthcoming one-day PRIDE courses in November 1995. The course will be based around the second edition of the PRIDE guide. The courses are aimed at Internet Service Providers with the following benefits: o Gain a better understanding of routing policy techniques. o Understanding of the concept of a Routing Registry. o Learn how to use/maintain routing policy information in the routing registry. o Learn how to use the PRIDE tools to diagnose and check routing policy problems. o Give Service Providers a chance to feedback ideas on the Routing Registry and the tools that are needed now and in the future. This course will be based on the revised RIPE Routing Registry (ripe-118). It will also give participants a firsthand look at newest developments around the routing registry and associated tools. Participant feedback will be appreciated. For a rough overview about the material covered, please refer to ftp://ftp.ripe.net/pride/docs/guide-1.0.ps.tar.Z. Note that this document refers to the old style RR (ripe-81). The course will be based on the new style RR (ripe-181). This course will be offered at the following locations and dates: Amsterdam November 7th Monday Pisa November 11th Friday London November 14th Monday Vienna November 18th Friday Washington DC first week of December The DC date will be announced as soon as arrangements have been made. The course will be funded by the PRIDE project and thus be free of charge. We might even throw in a free lunch ;-).
