As the person who previously occupied this seat: this is important work! It was a tough decision to go for the RIPE NCC Board and to give up this seat, so grab your chance to be involved in the future of the internet now! :) Currently the word done by the NRO NC/ASO AC is mostly focussed around updating ICP-2, the document that defines how new RIRs can be created and what their ongoing responsibilities are. They need people from all around the community to contribute to that work, to ensure that the successor to ICP-2 matches what the internet community needs in the upcoming years/decade(s). But also don't forget about the other responsibilities, like overseeing the Global PDP and appointing two directors to the ICANN Board. As a person it is also a great opportunity to work together with people from all around the globe, with different backgrounds and different cultures, and therefore also with different priorities and focus areas. And it is a wonderful team to work with! The biggest reward for doing this voluntary work for the community is personal growth. Feel free to contact me off-list if you want to know more, and I'm sure the other (ex) NRO NC/ASO AC members are happy to talk to you as well. This is important! Get Involved! Cheers, Sander Speaking as ex-council-member
Dear All, I strongly support Miriam and Sander's call. The work on the ASO AC Board is essential to representing the interests of the NROs and the RIPE community. We help to maintain and protect an open, free Internet. The work on the board is very professional, intensive but also enriching on a human level. Don't hesitate to contact me.
