Hello, Welcome to the RIPE Forum test thread. Here can you test the functions of this new service and discuss improvements. After logging in with your RIPE NCC Access account you can post a message in the text field at the end of this thread. No RIPE NCC Access account? Create one here: https://access.ripe.net/registration You automatically become subscribed to the mailing list when you first post to a forum thread. A pop-up window will ask you whether or not you also want to receive emails for any posts to the list. If you wish to reply to a post, click "Reply". If you want to quote an entire post in your reply, click the "Quote" button. If you want to partially quote a post, first highlight what you want to quote before you click "Quote". If you wish to start a new thread, click the "Post to the Forum" button. Notice a bug? Please use the "Report a bug" function on the bottom-right corner of the page. Happy testing! So tempted to write "First!" in the manner of 'other places' but instead I'll just note that it was simplicity itself to access and read. Great idea! Sent via RIPE Forum -- https://www.ripe.net/participate/mail/forum

Congratulations on being first ;) And thank you for the feedback, much appreciated! Cheers, Mihnea Sent via RIPE Forum -- https://www.ripe.net/participate/mail/forum

We have this same challenge at ISC. I wanted to present our popular bind-users and dhcp-users mailing lists as a forum, to make it easier for casual users to scan for relevant information, and to provide better visibility for the frequent/most valued expert 'answer-writers.' We looked around a bit and found that there was nothing good available. We also use Mailman - if this is successful, would you consider sharing your software? Hi Victoria, Thank you for your feedback, and it is interesting to learn that you ran into similar challenges at ISC. I can tell you that yes, we would consider sharing the software if it is successful. The only thing to keep in mind for now is that we have a hard dependency on our Single Sign-On (SSO) solution, RIPE NCC Access. Before we can share the code we would need to spend some time refactoring it to make that a modular dependency. So it may take a while before we can commit to that, but we are certainly open to the idea. Regards, Mihnea-Costin Grigore RIPE NCC Sent via RIPE Forum -- https://www.ripe.net/participate/mail/forum

I looked but didn't see the +1 or -1 buttons, which seem to be the only real benefit of web-based forums, right? :P Sent via RIPE Forum -- https://www.ripe.net/participate/mail/forum

Looks like the word-wrap needs to be fixed. Sample on Firefox 45.0.1 Linux can be seen here: https://imgur.com/kLwzGwz Sent via RIPE Forum -- https://www.ripe.net/participate/mail/forum

Hi Shane, Thanks for pointing this out. I've raised a ticket and this will be fixed in our next release. On 2016-04-12 16:57:31 CET, Shane Kerr wrote:

Looks good now! :) Sent via RIPE Forum -- https://www.ripe.net/participate/mail/forum

Another feature request: it would be nice if my preference for threaded would be saved with my sign-on. :) (Eventually you probably want something like the ability to sort based on newest/oldest date, author name, position of the moon when posted, and so on. All with or without threading. But for now, not having to click "threaded" every time would be plenty.) Sent via RIPE Forum -- https://www.ripe.net/participate/mail/forum

Thanks for this request. We've just deployed the 1.1b release. This includes a new feature: When the user chooses the threaded view then a cookie is set to remember this. We still have your original ticket open as we would like to integrate this feature more with users' RIPE NCC Access account, which will take some time, but in the short term this is a simple solution. We hope you like it. Thanks once again for your feedback. Cheers, Adam Sent via RIPE Forum -- https://www.ripe.net/participate/mail/forum

Great, this also works. It's not a perfect solution, since people use multiple computers and so on, but it does fix my immediate problem while the more complete fix is on the way. :) Sent via RIPE Forum -- https://www.ripe.net/participate/mail/forum

This looks great. I'm sure this new interface will make it easier for other community members to comment and participate in the discussions around here. Sent via RIPE Forum -- https://www.ripe.net/participate/mail/forum

This is exactly the aim of this proposal. Thank you :) Marco Sent via RIPE Forum -- https://www.ripe.net/participate/mail/forum

This should read "RIPE Forum" Due to the ongoing RIPE meeting I'm a bit focussed on policy proposals right now. Marco Sent via RIPE Forum -- https://www.ripe.net/participate/mail/forum
