Hello,
Welcome to the RIPE Forum test thread.
Here can you test the functions of this new service and discuss improvements.
After logging in with your RIPE NCC Access account you can post a message in the text field at the end of this thread.
No RIPE NCC Access account? Create one here: https://access.ripe.net/registration
You automatically become subscribed to the mailing list when you first post to a forum thread. A pop-up window will ask you whether or not you also want to receive emails for any posts to the list.
If you wish to reply to a post, click "Reply". If you want to quote an entire post in your reply, click the "Quote" button. If you want to partially quote a post, first highlight what you want to quote before you click "Quote".
If you wish to start a new thread, click the "Post to the Forum" button.
Notice a bug? Please use the "Report a bug" function on the bottom-right corner of the page.
Happy testing!

In case you missed it, there is currently an epic discussion thread on the address-policy working group list:
https://www.ripe.net/ripe/mail/archives/address-policy-wg/2016-April/thread…
I'm wondering what the "correct" way to present such a conversation is.
Basically I looked at my overflowing inbox, realized that this wasn't super critical to my life, and marked the whole thing as read. If I had some way to pull out interesting or pertinent topics or messages I might have gave it some attention.
One possible idea is to be more like reddit or other sites focused on discussion. (Reddit might not be the best, since it is not meant for long-term discussions but mostly for short-lived items, but anyway...) I think this means voting and ability to collapse threads. I don't know what else. I'm sure the RIPE NCC guys have discussed this before embarking on this project... maybe they can share their thoughts? :)

It's nice that there are links to the forum at the end of e-mails, but it might also be nice to have a link that takes one directly to the specific message on the forum. This would enable people to use e-mail basically for alerts only, but then use the forum for most actual interactions.
