It has also occurred to me that the probe ID you've provided matches a v3 hardware probe instead of a v2 hardware probe.
doh. <blush> thanks. i guess i abandoned it because it went to usb land again. this one is relatively easy to reach. i will try the usb dance again later today. experience has not engendered optimism. thanks for the clue bat! rand

i would be tempted to put small old hdd on it via externally powered enclosure talk about hacks eh so it could write it till hell freezes over On August 20, 2025 7:53:19 PM GMT+03:00, Randy Bush <randy@psg.com> wrote:

software probes are more likely to be worth the time/money investment you don't get the benefits of a plug-and-forget "appliance", but the overlap between "can't maintain a SW probe" and "wants to revive a probe f'ed beyond any recognition" is small :) On 20.08.2025 20:19, Sulev-Madis Silber via ripe-atlas wrote:

Only written-off probes need to be re-registered. Regards, Trix Taiclet Embedded Systems Engineer @ RIPE Atlas RIPE NCC
