Request for Atlas Credits
Hello All, I am Felix, a Master student at the University of Potsdam (Hasso-Plattner-Institut). I am working on a measurement research project that requires longitudinal data to validate censorship (at least that is what I want to try). For that, I would like to perform measurements like Ping, DNS, and HTTP. As it's just the start of the project, I can not yet estimate how many credits I need. For the beginning, it would be great to get some and then go from there. Therefore, I am reaching out for help. I would appreciate it if some of you could offer me some RIPE Atlas credits. My account at RIPE NCC is on this email: felix.hoffmann@student.hpi.uni-potsdam.de Best, Felix Hoffmann

Hi, What might be useful is some form of ‘gofundme’ page where people can post requests for atlas credits for their account, with text to explain the reason, and then link that here, then people can go to the page, see how much has been donated against the target, and choose to add more. Then we don’t need to fill inboxes with (very kind) donation emails. That's a very good point, too... Maybe all transactions via this 'gofundme' page could be copied to this list as FYIs? ;->

+1 It is fun seeing the trains loaded with Points/Credits roll in. And regret since by the time I saw this and copied his email, Felix had enough to last a lifetime. At the very least, will GEANT give others a chance to contribute :-) -- Sanjeev Gupta +65 98551208 http://www.linkedin.com/in/ghane

+1! Even more so as there is obviously an even huge gap between occasional demand and potential supply: such a page might it make more prominent for demanders of what to do if the amount of own credit points is by no means sufficient for the envisaged measurements. Cheers, -C.
That's yet another aspect I like the RIPE (Atlas) community for: One does very modestly lift one's index finger: "Excuse me - would you mind donating me some of your Atlas credit points for my research?" - and half an hour later the person asking is almost buried under an avalanche of - in this case - at least 175 million points. :-) No clue how fast one burns through them - never done any measurements so far -, but as there seem to be (much) more on the various shelves there might not be any shortage any time soon... Same feeling here :) I am already at 500 million. That's impressive! I guess that should be enough for quite some time. Thanks to everybody how donated. Best, Felix On 29.10.24 12:10, Carsten Schiefner wrote:
