Recycling software
Hi, I get emails for RIPE to reconnect or return my abandoned probes. However, how do I send these software probes back to them? Is there a bit bucket email address or something? LOL. Regards, Ernst

the subject of "recycling software" poses - beyond the above - some more questions that would deserve some answers. Such as: * Quite often, already the original software is very shitty. Would we encounter even more loss of quality, if it's recycled? * Or would it be rather the opposite: recycled software has at least a slight chance to be better than the dumped original as it might be touched upon, being reviewed? Questions over questions - hardly any answers... ;-b Best, -C.

+ worst case, do software probes go in the green bin or WEEE? So many questions... Nick
I would say write the version number on an envelope and sent it back to them :) -- Jimmy From: Nick Hilliard <nick@foobar.org> Date: Thursday, 24 October 2024 at 12:54 To: Carsten Schiefner <carsten@schiefner.de> Cc: ripe-atlas@ripe.net <ripe-atlas@ripe.net> Subject: [atlas] Re: Recycling software Carsten Schiefner wrote on 24/10/2024 11:29:

had a great laugh here i think this is blanket mailing. i even got one to connect brand new "abadoned" v5 probe. indeed, it shows it has been disconnected for months after they installed it and then stored and shipped it out maybe they forgot some extra if's on where it's actually reasonable to send mails On October 24, 2024 1:12:01 PM GMT+03:00, "Ernst J. Hi everybody, Wrote to Ernst already but forgot to reply to the list... We're glad you all had a good laugh, we all need one especially in these trying times. But we did ask you to: reconnect, write off or return your probe so technically that is correct. For the next round of these emails, we will adjust the text for the software probes but I really hope that none of you will get this email anymore because it means you (still) have an abandoned, not written off probe and that makes no one particularly happy ;) Cheers, Johan On Thu, 24 Oct 2024 at 12:12, Ernst J.
