Happy 8th Birthday Probe 1046
HI, Saw on FB today that 8 years ago I received my v1 (1046) probe from Geoff Huston. It’s been running pretty much ever since allowing for some international moves and the occasional issue. I had a look, is there a way of figuring out the number of v1 probes still around? I know after 8 years a lot of had issues. MMC

At the moment there are roughly 500 V1 probes connected. The maximum was around a 1000 in 2012. After that there was a slow decline under 2017. Then a drop and after that more or less stable at 500. Surprisingly, V2 probes drop more than V1 probes. Currently there are just a bit over a 1000 V2 probes connected. This is a drop from just under 2000 in 2013. It seems that the V2 probes drop linearly. Note that probe #1 is still connected: https://atlas.ripe.net/probes/1/ Philip

Of course I'm in a privileged position, but the uptime page says "All Time Connected 8y 91d 2h 43m" These guys are remarkably stable indeed. Robert
Thank you for the birthday wishes! Time flies. Trivia item 1: The official birthday should be 15.11.2010. Place of birth: Rome, Italy. This was the official launch RIPE 61. Trivia item 2: I have recently passed probe #7 on to the next generation of Karrenbergs and at this time it is up 8y 157d 16h. Kudos to Lantronix and Acal, the Dutch company who adapted the Lantronix hardware to our needs. Daniel On 20/05/2019 11:11, Robert Kisteleki wrote:
