Yes, already told that to all the host that host probe that distributed by me. Getting feedback from one and two of them that the USB is read-only. I just tested one of the dead probe, can be brought live by replacing the USB disk. Also realized that my own probe are using SanDisk and the dead probe are using Verbatim. Looking at the Philip report, looks like the Verbatim are more prone to error. Further analysis, can we as ambassador find out which one are probe that using Verbatim and which one are Sandisk? The probe that has a problem are not in my network, that's why I cannot guarantee the power source stability.
There are two normal failure scenarios: either the file system on the USB drive becomes corrupt, or the USB drive stops working. There are instructions for dealing with both cases on the ripe web site, which are (simplified):
corrupt filesystem: power down probe, remove USB drive, power up probe, wait 10 minutes, insert USB drive, wait 1 hour
corrupt usb drive: power down probe, remove USB key and insert clean 4G+ USB key, power up probe, wait 1 hour
The v3 probes seem to be less tolerant to power problems than those of the v1 and v2 probes.
