I understand that showing the object may be a good way to get adhesion and promote the RIPE Atlas project, even if having the probe in your hands has no utility for measurements.

As Lia said, they can all get their own probe ;-) And the value of the probe in the hacklab is NOT for the hacklab itself, but for the people _outside_ of Bolivia to make the measurements from that one.. and that's the most valuable if it's stable & online as much as possible.
