Hi DP, from my personal point of view there are a couple of reasons why we are deploying probes (both the candy size as well as the anchor-version): - straight-forward comparison of IPv4 vs. IPv6 performance - analysis of raw data and "pre-cooked" visual presentation, you just need one quick glance to decide whether "everything's fine" or needs some attention, ° in particular rtt and packet drop to instances of DNS root servers, where ° there's not necessarily an immediate noticeable impact on user experience - quick feedback on the (desired | undesired) effects of routing (planned or accidental) changes UDMs have been mentioned already, iirc, and while I think the concept is GREAT, I usually don't have the spare cycles to use them as much as I should or could ;-) Hth, Wilfried On 2015-08-25 06:18, dp@datasoftcomnet.com wrote:
Hello all, Can someone share an elevator pitch on why an ISP or an organisation that is on 24/7 needs to put a probe in their network. What are the benefits they would get? Has someone prepared a case study.
