Hello all, Can someone post the LED status and its meaning of the RIPE probes? Some probes take forever to register and we keep power cycling them interrupting I don't know what. Dear RIPE Atlas ambassadors, It’s been a long time since we shared some news, and we have a lot to tell you about! ******** One million credits ******** Do you know that you have 1,000,000 RIPE Atlas credits as thanks for helping us build the largest Internet measurement network? Here are some ways you can take advantage of these credits to run your own measurements: 1) If a customer complains they can't reach your network, you can schedule a ping from 500 probes to diagnose where else in the world this problem is visible. Cost for a one-off ping measurement using 500 probes around the world: 3,000 credits. 2) If you suspect that there are reachability problems between your server and a specific network, you can perform traceroute measurements every 30 minutes from 50 probes located in a certain AS Number, or in a specified country. Daily cost: 72,000 credits. 3) Use DomainMON to monitor your own name servers: https://labs.ripe.net/Members/suzanne_taylor_muzzin/ripe-atlas-domainmon-is… For example, you could schedule a measurement of 6 name servers for ripe.net with UDP SOA every hour from 10 probes. Daily cost: 28,800 credits. Please chase your contacts and ask them to get their probes online! ******** 10% credits from your online ambassador probes ******** Since this is the holiday season, we believe our ambassadors deserve special recognition for their help. As an ambassador, you will now receive daily 10% of the credits that your ambassador probes generate when they are online. That means you’ll receive 2,160 credits every day for each of your ambassador probes that remain online. ******** Ambassador page improvements ******** The ambassador page has been improved. Dear Folks, Hope everybody is doing fine. Couldn't agree more on the issue of power adapters. Expecting volunteers to provide them, especially at home, is a pain in the neck at each of my giveaway sessions. Some of volunteers actually use their phone chargers or PC ports for that and I am afraid they may take it back any time for granted, and leave the probe off and forgotten forever. Also the LED's give no clues as everything has been coded from scratch on the probes. One of mine has been running for a week with the big reset button LED off, then after a power recycle, it came up and the probe doing fine as before, while some other LED is never seen on. In addition, no network activity is shown on the probe itself, and I have to keep an eye on a one-out-of-many LED on the switch to see if the life is going on with the probe. I think developers can put a little effort to make sense out of LED's and give us a manual in order to be able to troubleshoot probes. I suggest one for network, one for activity, one for connectivity to the server, one for updates, one for power-up One other demand is the poster of the Atlas. It doesn't help promotions much. More information is demanded, much like a catalog, answering more questions and highlighting more features. Gaining people's cyber trust is not easy these days. Especially when they want to participate at their own costs, "at their own risk" is not an option. Also, as we may need many copies of it to share here and there, it would be nice if some pack of hard copies is enclosed with the probes sent to us and and at least 2 sheets for each host. Last but not least, an online certification or badge or some ID with our picture on it or something alike can be of much more credit to ambassadors and helps us get around resistance. Regards, M. Dear RIPE Atlas ambassadors, We’ve already convinced you about the benefits of hosting a RIPE Atlas probe, which is why you help us do the same with people all over the world. But do you ever find it difficult to explain to others all the different benefits and potential use cases of RIPE Atlas? We have a special collection of articles on RIPE Labs that do just that. They include blog posts by probe and anchor hosts about how they use RIPE Atlas data to troubleshoot network issues and monitor their services, analyses carried out by RIPE Atlas researchers, scientific papers that have been published using RIPE Atlas data, and a section for tutorials, workshops and presentations on RIPE Atlas given by people at conferences all over the world. https://labs.ripe.net/atlas/user-experiences We hope you’ll find this collection useful in helping explain RIPE Atlas and its many uses to potential probe hosts. New Features for RIPE Atlas Ambassadors

Dear RIPE Atlas ambassadors, Conferences are a great opportunity to hand out RIPE Atlas probes, and we’ve made it easier than ever for the RIPE Atlas community to come together at such events. On the RIPE Atlas conference page, you can now list any conferences you'll be attending where you’ll be handing out RIPE Atlas probes. If you don’t see a conference listed, let us know and we’ll add it for you. And whenever you’re at a conference, use the hashtag #RIPEAtlas to spread the word and let people know they can get a probe from you. https://atlas.ripe.net/get-involved/community/#!conferences We are very happy that there are now 8,000+ probes connected around the globe - and with your help, we know we can reach our goal of 10,000! "Your probe shipped" e-mail: please, ignore!

Hi all, Last night a few e-mails with the subject “Your probe shipped” were sent to you. This was not intentional. We have introduced a new feature which e-mails you when a probe is shipped. Unfortunately this feature also affected past probe applications and sent emails about probes that we have shipped to you in the past. We are working on a fix so that you are not going to receive any such e-mails in the future unless you are really receiving a new probe shipment. As ambassador you won’t receive an individual e-mail per probe shipped but a notification about one shipment only which contains multiple probes. Again our apologies for the inconvenience!
