Welcome and tips for new RIPE Atlas ambassadors

Dear colleagues, Thank you very much for helping us build RIPE Atlas into the largest, most diverse Internet measurement network possible by spreading the word and distributing probes. To help make it easier for our community to meet RIPE Atlas ambassadors, we’ve created a list of the different events where ambassadors will be available to answer questions and hand out probes: https://atlas.ripe.net/get-involved/community/#!tab-conferences Please let us know if there are any events you’ll be attending, and we will add you to the list. If you want us to list your contact details, please also tell us your Twitter, GitHub or LinkedIn information. You can send these details to mcb(a)ripe.net. We’re also happy to announce that the dashboard view of the probes you've already distributed has been improved. We hope this will help you in your tasks as a RIPE Atlas ambassador, such as following up with hosts who are a bit slow to connect their probes, or those who have maybe forgotten all about connecting them! Transferred Probe Information

Hi Team, In my probes list as an ambassador, there is a probe which I myself registered and then transfer the ownership of that to some one else,my question is that in the list it's still registered with my name and information,is there any way to change these information and email address to the new owner? Question of high availability for atlas via different ASNs

Hello, everyone! Greetings from India. I am hosting RIPE Atlas probe at home for a while. I have two connections - primary which is high capacity symmetric link and secondary which is a low-end cable broadband connection. The core router is Ubnt edge router and it runs "load balancing" to keep primary link as primary and switch to secondary if the primary is down for more than 30 seconds. This setup works well for me but RIPE Atlas is not part of this "auto switch" if the primary is down. I wonder if it makes sense to add RIPE Atlas to it? 1. It will improve my monthly availability report and possibly will move from 98% uptime (of primary) to 99.9% uptime (of both links) and that's actually real uptime on LAN. 2. But it would screw up probe data as both networks are completely different and have different sets of upstream resulting in different routing preference to root DNS instances etc. Also, does probe comes only if connectivity is switched? It's a non-BGP setup and when I say "auto switch" of uplinks, it's basically switching the default route from primary to secondary while keeping same private IP on LAN side. Due to NATing, WAN IP changes in this scenario. Curious to hear thoughts if I should or should not. Another way, of course, would be to do it for a month and see data. :) Thanks. -- Anurag Bhatia anuragbhatia.com

RIPE Atlas ambassador monthly report

Dear all, Starting this month, all RIPE Atlas ambassadors will receive monthly updates giving them a clear overview of their recent activities. Each update will contain a variety of useful statistics, including information on probe connection rates and connection issues. As an ambassador, you’ll also get a reminder of the amount of credits you've accumulated over the past few months, as well as the latest news on RIPE Atlas related developments and events. This is the first time we’ve sent out these updates, so do let us know if you have any questions, or if there’s anything else you’d like to be notified about in the updates.
