Welcome and tips for new RIPE Atlas ambassadors

Dear colleagues, Thank you very much for helping us build RIPE Atlas into the largest, most diverse Internet measurement network possible by spreading the word and distributing probes. To help make it easier for our community to meet RIPE Atlas ambassadors, we’ve created a list of the different events where ambassadors will be available to answer questions and hand out probes: https://atlas.ripe.net/get-involved/community/#!tab-conferences Please let us know if there are any events you’ll be attending, and we will add you to the list. If you want us to list your contact details, please also tell us your Twitter, GitHub or LinkedIn information. You can send these details to mcb(a)ripe.net. We’re also happy to announce that the dashboard view of the probes you've already distributed has been improved. We hope this will help you in your tasks as a RIPE Atlas ambassador, such as following up with hosts who are a bit slow to connect their probes, or those who have maybe forgotten all about connecting them! Below you can find some more tips and resources to help you as a RIPE Atlas ambassador. We look forward to meeting you soon, either in person at an event (hopefully at RIPE 69!) or online. RIPE Atlas data visualisation hackathon

Dear ambassadors, RIPE NCC is organising the first RIPE Atlas open data hackathon! In short: various groups will come together during the long weekend in Amsterdam, to make new visualisations (or modify existing ones) based on RIPE Atlas data, and to give that SW back to the community. We are inviting: programers, designers, operators, data-lovers, hackers, students... ... so we rely on *you* to help us spread the word to your contacts! Comcast is generously offering prizes and some coverage for travel expenses for several people -- to be awarded/selected by a jury. Dates: 27-28-29 March 2015 (Friday to Sunday) How to apply: https://www.ripe.net/s/XUJy In order to get part of travel expenses covered, the application deadline is 21st January. After that, we will inform those who got selected, and how many more places do we still have available, for either locals or people who can pay their own travel.
