Revisit arguments for Edge

Is the motive for Edge diminishing since its first concepts were formulated more than a decade ago? A recent work to share on "Revisiting the Arguments for Edge Computing Research" https://arxiv.org/pdf/2106.12224.pdf Aaron -- CPI Lab, TU Delft https://cpi-lab.github.io/

As regards sustainability, I think that researchers need well conceived and articulated architectures of ***physical*** deployments of telecommunications networks. The analyzed substrate must be declared with as much transparency as possible. A primary limiting factor is the degree of willingness by operators to disclose implementational details. Abstractions that conceal physical elements lack conviction. Etienne On Sun, Jun 27, 2021 at 11:07 AM Aaron Ding <Aaron.Ding@tudelft.nl> wrote:

RACI colleagues, for PhD and Postdoc positions at TU Delft in my new Horizon project: https://cordis.europa.eu/project/id/101021808 Appreciated if you help share the words with your MSc and PhD interns graduates (or soon to graduate) who are seeking opportunities. Details and application links can be found here: https://cpi-lab.github.io/ The positions are full-time with solid support from a well-recognized engineering school in EU: https://www.topuniversities.com/university-rankings/university-subject-ranki... As full-time employees, TU Delft offers customisable compensation package, a discount for health insurance and sport memberships, and a monthly work costs contribution. Flexible work schedules can be arranged. An International Children's centre offers childcare and an international primary school. Coming to Delft Service organizes diverse events for new international employees and their accompanying partners, like Partner Career Workshops and Dutch Culture Workshops. Salary and benefits are in accordance with the Collective Labour Agreement for Dutch Universities. Aaron

Thanks Etienne. Sustainability needs indeed hw/physical level transparency. As for the list, this 'Revisit Edge' is now published on IEEE Internet Computing: https://ieeexplore.ieee.org/document/9470987 Aaron ________________________________ From: Etienne-Victor Depasquale <edepa@ieee.org> Sent: Sunday, June 27, 2021 12:45 To: Aaron Ding Cc: raci-list@ripe.net Subject: Re: [RACI-list] Revisit arguments for Edge As regards sustainability, I think that researchers need well conceived and articulated architectures of ***physical*** deployments of telecommunications networks.
