Hi Slavica, Yes, it is our hope that the academics use our data. We will accept proposals with other ideas, so don't be discouraged to submit something, however using our data would be a bonus. By the way, we updated the button here (http://ripe.net/raci-funding) - now it leads to a template/form to fill out, since too many people asked for something like that, instead of just an email. Cheers, Gergana On 28/04/2021 23:42, slavicat@ucg.ac.me wrote:
Dearg Gergana,
Thank you on fast response.
If I understood well the project should deal with datasets collected with some of the RIPE platforms? Can you just confirm this?
I do not have any other questions for now.
Thank you in advance,
Slavica Tomovic

Hi Slavica,
Thanks for getting back to me.
Concerning the expenses, I know that they can cover equipment if needed or time compensation/personnel - so for example getting 2 PostDocs for X amount of time for X amount per hour to work on this project. If you have another item in mind, please let me know and I will check internally.
Indeed, we do not have a template. The idea is to get the 2-page proposal from you and our Research and Development team will decide which are the most interesting and relevant. We are a network coorination centre, so anything that can help the work of network operators would be a bonus.
Please let me know if you have any more questions. This is the first time we are doing this (as I explained, it's due to the pandemic). If something is unclear, I'd try find answers and get back to you.
Best regards, Gergana

Dear Gergana,
Thank you very much for this information. Our research group for telecommunication networks, from the Univeristy of Montenegro, is interested in submitting a proposal. I have two questions for you in that regard:
What expenditures are eligible for funding? Are there more detailed guidelines for proposal preparation or we should just take into account those from the link you sent (e.g. no specific template)?
I will appreciate your feedback on this.
Thanks in advance, Slavica Tomovic

Hi Slavica,
I'm writing to all RACI applicants personally, as I'm not sure if everyone is subscribed to the raci-list@ripe.net (for those subscribed, forgive the duplication). I want to share some information on what we decided to do with the RACI budget in 2021, as well as invite you to the academic session on 14 May.
RACI Research Funding 2021 -------------------------- Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the funds for this initiative for the year 2021 will instead be used to support research projects relevant to work carried out by the RIPE NCC. We provide the data and funds, you - the ideas and research.
We invite universities and research institutes in the RIPE NCC service region to submit proposals to work on projects in these areas: - Apply machine learning and big data analytics to the collected routing data to identify and predict trends. - Apply and customise big data visualisation frameworks to the collected routing data to better display the data to users.
More details are available at: https://www.ripe.net/raci-funding
If you are interested, please send a project proposal by 31 May.
Academic Session, 14 May, 12h UTC/14h CEST ------------------------------------------ For the past few years we've been organising a session for academia and NRENs parallel to each RIPE Meeting. It consists of an introduction round followed by short presentations and Q&A and has an informal character.
Since the meeting is virtual this year, anyone with interest can attend, (so even if you are not attending the RIPE Meeting). If you are interested to join, please email me back.
If you are interested to attend, would you also want to talk about something? This can be:
- Your recent research: it doesn't matter if it is published or not, finished or not. All that matters is that you want to tell us about it and maybe answer a few questions. The topics we are interested in: network measurement and analysis, IPv6, routing, network security, peering and interconnectivity, IoT, Internet governance.
- Any project of your university - maybe you launched a new popular course or created a new platform for online learning?
We'd like to have several talks of up to 10 minutes. If there is a lot of interest, we can make the session a little longer. It's up to you whether you prefer to do them with or without slides.
Please let me know what you think!
Have a lovely day, Gergana
