Apply for the RIPE NCC Community Projects Fund

Hi all, Are you working on or planning a non-commercial project that would benefit the Internet or the RIPE community? Or maybe you know somebody with a great idea, who is lacking to funds to make it true? Through the Community Projects Fund, the RIPE NCC will provide up to EUR 250,000 per year to support projects of value to the operation and resilience of the Internet, with a focus on tools and services benefitting the technical community in the Europe, the Middle East and Central Asia. You can apply by submitting a clear project plan and timeline by 1 September at: https://ripe.net/community-projects-fund A couple of things to keep in mind: - Funding may be used to purchase equipment, but this cannot be the sole expenditure - Funding cannot be used for humanitarian aid, donations, or to encourage political reform - Funding cannot be used to provide scholarships or cover tuition fees - Funding cannot be used to support any form of commercial activity If you want some inspiration, check out the projects funded in the past (but don't let that limit you!): https://www.ripe.net/support/cpf/funding-recipients-2018 https://www.ripe.net/support/cpf/funding-recipients-2017 Anybody within RIPE NCC service region can apply, so feel free to spread this call to anyone you think might find it useful. RIPE NCC Survey

Dear colleagues, Every three years, we send out a survey to ask for feedback for the RIPE NCC and the RIPE community. Please take 10 minutes to share with us your experiences with the RIPE NCC as well as topics such as network security, IPv4, IPv6, Internet governance, the RIPE Database. Call for Papers - Internet Consolidation

Hi all, I'd like to share with you the call for papers put out by Chatham House and the Internet Society on Internet Consolidation. ---- The Internet Society and Chatham House are collaborating on a special issue of the Journal of Cyber Policy, on the impact of consolidation in the Internet’s fundamental architecture, including structural dependencies across its many layers. All articles in the special issue will be open access. In recent years there has been a growing debate around the influence of a few large Internet technology companies and the concentration of providers in consumer-visible and audible services. As a result, what was once widely viewed as a collective platform for limitless permissionless innovation, competition, and growth is increasingly experienced as a consolidated environment dominated by a few. The Internet Society and Chatham House are planning a special issue of the Journal of Cyber Policy, aimed at discovering the extent to which similar forces for market dominance could be affecting the Internet’s fundamental architecture. 2019 IIJ lab Internship program

Hi all, Application for the 2019 summer internship program at IIJ research lab in Tokyo is now open: https://www.iij-ii.co.jp/en/career/internship.html That's a good chance to exchange students and strengthen collaborations. IIJ covers travel expenses, accommodation, and monthly compensation for two months internship in our lab. This year applications will be reviewed on a rolling basis. It is better to apply early. Guest speaker Adam Peake from ICANN will talk about the history of the Internet, WSIS, the NETmundial principles, management of critical Internet resources and multistakeholder approaches to Internet policy development.
