Continuing in my previous view of examining RIPE services and alternatives that are available:
At the RIPE meeting, I saw http://dnsmon.ripe.net.
How is this different than: http://www.caida.org/cgi-bin/dns_perf/main.pl and http://www.cymru.com/DNS/dns.html
Wouldn't it make sense to use these services to monitor country roots rather than create yet another new RIPE service?
at some ripe meeting or another, i presented a bit of research. in that research, we conducted an experiment using some "BGP Beacons." within weeks, ripe/ncc had set up a bunch of these beacons, in a fashion that was not usable for our experiments and with no clear goal other than <aol>ME TOO</AOL>. to my knowledge, no researcher has used them to date. all i could figure out was "if we hear of it, we must do it too." randy
