New management interface for Resource Certification (RPKI)

Dear colleagues, Today, we are proud to launch the new management interface for Resource Certification (RPKI): https://certification.ripe.net/ (LIR Portal log-in required) This release marks the third major overhaul of the system since its launch in 2011. All of the user experiences and feedback we received from you since the initial launch have helped shape this new interface. While the previous interface focused on helping new users get started with the system, the new interface incorporates functionality to help existing users solve problems using sensible defaults and best practices. We also managed to simplify the interface even further, reducing it from three pages to one in a fresh new look. You can watch a quick tour of the new interface here: http://youtu.be/gLwHp12wOGw I would like to stress that this release is not the conclusion of our work to improve the RPKI interface. We made a conscious decision to not implement every possible feature but to use this as a foundation to expand the functionality based on your needs and input. For example, a requested feature we would like to incorporate is the ability for users to keep their RIPE Database ROUTE objects synchronised with their ROAs, thereby providing a single location for easy routing management and monitoring. We are eager to hear your feedback on the new interface. User input is vital as we continue to simplify resource management and improve the experience for LIR Portal users. New RIPE NCC PGP Key

Reminder to Test APIs (Phasing Out Text-Based Email Request Forms)

Dear colleagues, On 7 October 2014, we announced our timeline for phasing out the text-based email request forms: http://www.ripe.net/ripe/mail/archives/ncc-services-wg/2014-October/002890.… As part of this, the RIPE NCC has made APIs available for testing to check whether these are compatible with your work flows. So far, only one LIR has done this. Please be aware that the period for comments ends on 31 January, and the APIs will be deployed shortly after this. Launching the RIPE NCC Academy

Dear colleagues, The RIPE NCC is pleased to announce the launch of the RIPE NCC Academy, a virtual learning environment that allows you to take courses and obtain certificates online: https://academy.ripe.net/ The first course available is the RIPE Database Expert Course. You can sign in to the RIPE NCC Academy with your RIPE NCC Access account (if you don’t already have one, you can easily create one through the link provided). The RIPE NCC Academy is available to everyone, free of charge. Before starting a course, you should know that: - You have 90 days to complete the course from the moment you start it. - We are working to automate the evaluation of all of the activities. In the meantime, some of them need to be checked manually, so you may have to wait for a trainer to review them. - If you’re very confident that you already know all you need to know about the RIPE Database, you can choose to complete the activities without studying the content. - You will earn a certificate when you achieve a score of 70% or better, including all the activities and the final test. - Your certificate will remain valid for three years. The first 100 users to earn a certificate will get a limited edition RIPE NCC Academy Graduate t-shirt. Don’t wait too long - graduate to the next level today! NCC Services WG Chair re-election process

Hello NCC Services WG, The collective of RIPE working group chairpersons has decided that each RIPE working group should have some rules regarding the re-selection of the chairs. Kurtis and I have come up with the following, we’ve tried to keep it light weight and simple so we can easily change if needed for the next round: The RIPE NCC Services Working Group will endeavour to keep two Chair persons whenever possible. Every two years one of the chairs will offer to stand down to allow new candidates to become Chair. The Chair standing down will be announced via email to the working group mailing list, prior to next meeting. Any community members may volunteer for the available position. During the meeting, the working group itself will by consensus establish the new or re-elected working group Chair. If for what ever reason consensus can not be reached or there are no new volunteers the existing Chair will continue their working group duties. Dear colleagues, We still have places left for the new RIPE NCC training course that will take place on the Sunday before the RIPE 69 Meeting in London this November. This new course will focus on how to obtain, transfer, manage and protect your IP address space. The course is free of charge and is open to anyone interested. The course will cover the most frequently asked questions the RIPE NCC receives about IP address space. Course title: RIPE NCC Presents: IP Address Space Basics How to obtain, transfer, manage and protect your IP addresses Goals: By the end of this course, you will be able to: - Manage your IPv4 and IPv6 addresses according to current RIPE Policies - Understand how to obtain IPv4 addresses through transfers - Protect your address space from hijacking Target audience: Anyone interested in the policies and procedures around address space in the RIPE NCC service region, and companies looking at address space transfers, mergers and acquisitions. No prior knowledge of the topic is necessary. Time: Sunday, 2 November, 10:00–16:00 Outline: - Becoming a RIPE NCC member (why and how) - Obtaining IP addresses (IPv4 and IPv6) - IP address space transfers, mergers and acquisitions - IPv6 basics - Address space hijacking - Resource Certification (RPKI) Cost: Free of charge.
