RIPE NCC Member Update: October 2016 Contents: - IANA Stewardship Transition Completed - LIR Training Course now on RIPE NCC Academy - RIPE Chair Election Procedure and Function Description - Simplifying Contact Management in the LIR Portal - How to Spend Your RIPE Atlas Credits - RIPEstat Speedchecker Bandwidth Measurements - RIPE 73 - RIPE NCC General Meeting (GM) - NRO NC Election During RIPE 73 - New on RIPE Labs Number of LIRs: 14,544 LIRs with IPv6: 10,972 IPv4 addresses transferred in September: 552,704 IANA STEWARDSHIP TRANSITION COMPLETED On 1 October 2016, the IANA functions contract that the United States Government had with ICANN was allowed to expire. This represents the final step in the community-led IANA stewardship transition process that began in 2014. Oversight of IANA is now the responsibility of the Names, Numbers and Protocol Parameters communities that rely on its services. LIR TRAINING COURSE NOW ON RIPE NCC ACADEMY The Local Internet Registry (LIR) Training Course is now available on the RIPE NCC Academy. RIPE CHAIR ELECTION PROCEDURE AND FUNCTION DESCRIPTION Hans Petter Holen, RIPE Chair, published a proposed election procedure for how the community will select future RIPE Chairs.
