Registry -- LIR Stats Number of LIRs: 23,383 (-293) Number of members: 20,231 (-158) LIRs with IPv6: 16,735 (-88) IPv4 addresses transferred in December: 1,301,760 (-1,499,392) -- Voluntary Registry Lock Implemented We have completed implementation of a new 'voluntary registry lock' feature in the LIR Portal. This feature is intended for any members or End Users who are concerned that they might be forced to transfer their IP addresses to another party due to threats or coercion. Information Services -- RIPE NCC Quarterly Planning Q1 2023 We have published our Q1 2023 plans for our development teams. These plans include the work we will undertake for a number of services, including RPKI, the RIPE Database, RIPE Atlas, RIPEstat, the LIR Portal and more: https://www.ripe.net/support/documentation/quarterly-planning -- Five Proposals for a Better RIPE Atlas The team behind RIPE Atlas has shared five proposals for improving RIPE Atlas based on community discussions. These proposals are to remove per-hop “late” packets from traceroute, to measure well-known CDNs, to have generic HTTP measurements, to add support for STARTTLS measurements and to remove support for non-public measurements. Community and Engagement -- New RIPE Policy Proposal RIPE Policy proposal 2023-01 “Reducing IXP IPv4 assignment default size to a /26” has been submitted for discussion in the Address Policy Working Group. The goal of this proposal is to extend the lifetime of the IXP IPv4 address pool and to motivate IXPs to implement the exchange of IPv4 routing information over IPv6. This year, we will not be issuing paper invoices. They will instead be available only online in the LIR Portal. Additionally, there is no 2022 surplus to redistribute to members. Members who paid fees in 2021 however will receive a small redistribution.
