RIPE NCC General Meeting November 2011: Agenda and Supporting Documents

Dear RIPE NCC member, The draft agenda and supporting documents for the RIPE NCC General Meeting (GM) November 2011 have now been published. The draft agenda for the GM is available at: http://www.ripe.net/lir-services/ncc/gm/november-2011/draft-agenda The supporting documents are available at: http://www.ripe.net/lir-services/ncc/gm/november-2011/documents Meeting Details ---------------- The GM will begin on Wednesday, 2 November 2011 at 16:00 (UTC +1). It will be held adjacent to the RIPE 63 Meeting, which takes place from 31 October-4 November 2011. The GM will consist of two parts: - The RIPE NCC Services Working Group will begin at 16:00 (UTC +1) and will include the presentation of the Report from the RIPE NCC. This part of the GM is open to everyone. - The second part of the GM follows immediately after and is open only to RIPE NCC members who have registered for the GM. This part of the meeting is the forum where RIPE NCC members can discuss the operations and activities of the RIPE NCC and exercise their voting rights. For this GM, the Executive Board will allow electronic voting for all resolutions. The voting period will begin on Wednesday, 2 November according to the GM agenda and will remain open until 14:00 (UTC +1) on Thursday, 3 November. The GM voting period will continue but the physical meeting will be postponed until 15:45 (UTC +1) on Thursday, when the Chairman of the GM will announce the results of the votes on the GM resolutions. The Executive Board is extending the voting period for this GM to make it as convenient as possible for RIPE NCC members in the entire RIPE NCC service region to cast their votes. The GM will be webcast, so all RIPE NCC members will be able to follow proceedings and have time to vote on all resolutions. As a member, you can attend both the RIPE NCC Services Working Group session and the members-only section of the GM without being registered for the RIPE 63 Meeting. Proxy Voting ============ If your organisation is to be represented by a third party, not being an authorised employee or director, please fill out the proxy form and send it to us by 19 October 2011. Any proxy sent to us after this date will not be valid. This takes place on Wednesday, 2 November 2011 from 16:00-17:30 (UTC +1), immediately before the members-only section of the GM. The Report from the RIPE NCC presentation will not be repeated in the members-only section of the GM. Voting and Resolutions ====================== Candidate members are welcome to attend the GM but are not permitted to vote according to article 16.7 of the RIPE NCC Articles of Association. Full members who are not able to attend the GM but still want to vote can do so by means of proxy voting as per article 16. Please also note that the GM can only pass resolutions that have been submitted and published according to article 15 of the RIPE NCC Articles of Association. If you represent more than one LIR, you should add the RegIDs for these LIRs on the login page. Click "Add More" to do this. 3. Enter your details on the registration form. 4. When you complete the registration process, you will receive a confirmation email with your registration number. 5. On 2 November, go to the GM Registration Desk to receive your meeting pack, voting slips and pass to enter the GM.

Electronic Voting Registration: RIPE NCC General Meeting November 2011

Dear colleagues, At the upcoming RIPE NCC General Meeting (GM) in Vienna on 2 November 2011, electronic voting on the GM resolutions will be facilitated. Those attending the GM on site can vote either electronically or by using the traditional paper ballot method. The agenda, including the resolutions to be voted on, will be published online on 5 October. The voting period will begin after the resolutions are presented to the membership on 2 November and will remain open until 3 November at 14:00 (UTC +1). The extended voting period will give members in all time zones in the RIPE NCC service region adequate time to cast their votes. The RIPE NCC uses BigPulse, a third party that specialises in web-based voting solutions, to conduct the poll. Tomorrow, 29 September 2011, you will receive an email from the RIPE NCC inviting you to register for electronic voting with the BigPulse system. You should follow the instructions in the invitation email if you wish to register for electronic voting. The deadline to register for electronic voting is 19 October 2011. Those attending the GM who wish to vote electronically must also register by 19 October. NOTE: It will not be possible to register to vote electronically on the day of the GM. If you think you are entitled to vote but do not receive the invitation to register by 18:00 (UTC) on 29 September, please contact <agm(a)ripe.net> to let us know. Verify your LIR Portal email address before 17 October 2011

Dear Colleagues, We are in the process of rolling out RIPE NCC Access. This will enable you to access various RIPE NCC services using just one password instead of having to sign in to each tool or service separately. We've already enabled RIPE NCC Access for IS Alarms and the next service scheduled for migration is the LIR Portal. Because this is our most used service, it is likely that you will soon have a RIPE NCC Access account. Because RIPE NCC Access uses your email address as your username, the email address that is currently associated with your LIR Portal account will become your new RIPE NCC Access username. This username can then be used to log into IS Alarms and the LIR Portal and other services as they are migrated to RIPE NCC Access. Please log into the LIR Portal and verify your email address in the top right corner. If you would like to use a different email address than the one displayed for your RIPE NCC Access account, please contact your LIR Portal Administrator and ask them to update it before 17 October, 2011, to ensure a smooth migration. RIPE NCC Listing Service: Streamlining Resource Transfers

Dear Colleagues, As described in section 5.5 of RIPE policy, ripe-524 "Address Allocation and Assignment Policies for the RIPE NCC Service Region", RIPE NCC members are able to transfer Internet number resources to another member after RIPE NCC approval and based on demonstrated need. As the RIPE NCC's pool of available IPv4 addresses depletes, we expect that the number of members wanting to transfer resources will increase. In order to streamline the transfer process, we are launching the RIPE NCC Listing Service. The Listing Service enables members to offer the address blocks they hold and no longer need. Members who want to acquire IPv4 address space can browse the list and request a transfer under the current policy. Reminder: NRO NC Call for Nominations - RIPE NCC Service Region

[Apologies for duplicate emails] Dear colleagues, This is a reminder that there is a call for nominations from the RIPE NCC service region to fill one vacant seat on the Number Resource Organization (NRO) Number Council (NC). The term of Wilfried Woeber, who was appointed to the NRO NC by the RIPE NCC Executive Board in October 2008, ends on 31 December 2011. The RIPE NCC Executive Board will select one representative from the nominees to serve a three-year term on the NRO NCC beginning 1 January 2012. The decision of the Executive Board will be announced at the RIPE 63 Meeting, which will be held in Vienna from 31 October-4 November 2011. The deadline for nominations is 5 October 2011. Any individual residing within the RIPE NCC service region is eligible for nomination, except Regional Internet Registry (RIR) staff members. Self-nominations are permitted. There is no limit on the amount of terms someone can serve on the NRO NC. All nominees may submit a written statement in support of their nomination for publication on the RIPE NCC website. Other individuals may express support for nominated individuals that will be published on the RIPE NCC website. Launch of RIPE NCC Access

[Apologies for duplicate emails] Dear colleagues, To improve the usability of our services, we are deploying a new user account system called RIPE NCC Access. It will allow you to use a single set of credentials to access most of our services. This means that all users of our various services will be asked to migrate or update their current login credentials to a new scheme, using your email address and a password of your choice. We will roll out RIPE NCC Access gradually. The first service to adopt this functionality is IS Alarms. All current IS Alarms users will receive an email with instructions on how to set up their RIPE NCC Access account. From Thursday, 15 September 2011, IS Alarms users will not be able to log in with their old credentials. In the following months, other services such as the LIR Portal, DNSMON and RIPE Atlas will follow. We will keep you updated on the progress. We are certain RIPE NCC Access will offer simplified and unified access to our services and improve the overall user experience.
