Dear Colleagues, Today, the RIPE NCC launches its new ticketing system. There is a RIPE Labs article that explains the background behind this change at: https://labs.ripe.net/Members/AlexBand/ticketing-and-document-management-at… This change will mostly impact RIPE NCC staff and will not change how you deal with the RIPE NCC. You should still make requests for resources, transfers, company name changes, etc. through your LIR account via my.ripe.net. All your questions and reports can be channeled through our new contact form, which combines the old contact and report form functionality. The new form also presents suggested content to users that can help to provide them with useful information. The form is available at: https://www.ripe.net/contact-form Submissions made through the form will be ticketised and all documentation will be stored separately and securely in the RIPE NCC's Document Management System. Please reply to the emails you receive to ensure your ticket is updated. You should add your replies to tickets at the top of your email and not reply "in line". Additional documentation can be submitted via the My Tickets functionality available to LIR account holders at: https://my.ripe.net/#/tickets We have planned the migration to have as little impact as possible. Dear colleagues, The RIPE 75 Meeting successfully ended yesterday in Dubai. There were 483 people in attendance from 59 countries, including a sizeable jump in the number of first-time attendees (36%)! Notable highlights of the meeting week included the formation of a new Internet of Things Working Group and the very first "Women in Tech" lunch featuring presentations from women working in the Middle East region. Dear colleagues, The RIPE NCC General Meeting (GM) was held from 24-26 October 2017 adjacent to the RIPE 75 Meeting in Dubai. There were 103 attendees, including RIPE NCC staff and observers from the other Regional Internet Registries (RIRs). The results of the voting on the resolutions are as follows: Resolution 1 - The General Meeting approves the redistribution of the excess contribution paid in 2017 by redistributing the RIPE NCC 2017 surplus to the membership in 2018. Yes – 1,037 No - 33 Abstain - 7 The resolution passed. Resolution 2 - The General Meeting adopts the amendments to the RIPE NCC Conflict Arbitration Procedure. Yes - 847 No - 70 Abstain - 137 The resolution passed. Resolution 3 - The General Meeting adopts the amendments to the RIPE NCC Articles of Association. Hello, For more than 25 years, the RIPE NCC has been supporting activities and projects for the “Good of the Internet”. Community-driven, non-commercial work has been fundamental to the success of the Internet from its earliest days, and continues to play an important role in making the Internet resilient, secure and accessible for everyone. Under the RIPE NCC Community Projects Fund, the RIPE NCC will provide up to EUR 250,000 per year to support projects of value to the operation and resilience of the Internet, with a focus on tools and services benefitting the technical community in the Europe, the Middle East and Central Asia. Apply now to get your project funded! If you or your organisation is working on a new or existing project that fits the criteria below, and need some financial support to get it off the ground or keep it going, we want to hear from you! Is your project of benefit to the Internet, particularly the RIPE community? Is your project non-commercial in nature? Do you have a clear project plan and timeline? With this release it will be possible to add “abuse-c:” references to INET(6)NUM and AUT-NUM objects if you want to use an abuse contact for this resource that is different from the one in the ORGANISATION object for your LIR. With this release it will no longer be possible to add “abuse mailbox:” to objects other than ROLE objects that are referenced through “abuse-c:”. We will clean up existing other occurrences of “abuse mailbox:” on 30 October, and you will receive a notification with an explanation about this update if any of your objects are affected. You do not need to take any action because of this, but if you want to verify or change your abuse contact information you can do so using our web interface. LIRs can copy the list to the clipboard or download it as a CSV file. A snapshot of resources held was taken on 30 September and this is the basis for the charges to be made. RIPE ATLAS v3 ANCHORS The wait for the next generation of RIPE Atlas anchors is at an end. Dear colleagues, The RIPE NCC General Meeting (GM) takes place one week from today on Tuesday, 24 October. All members are asked to participate by registering their votes and attendance options via my.ripe.net: https://www.ripe.net/s/gm-registration-oct-2017 The registration process takes less than a minute to complete, and we ask that you exercise your participation and voting rights in this important meeting for the RIPE NCC and the membership. Almost 1,000 members have registered to participate so far. Members voting remotely should register to do so before the deadline on 16:00 UTC+4 on 24 October. Agenda and Resolutions ----------------------- The agenda for the GM is available at: https://www.ripe.net/participate/meetings/gm/meetings/october-2017/agenda There will be a discussion of the Draft RIPE NCC Activity Plan and Budget 2018. This document lays out our plans for 2018 and the cost of those plans, so your input in the discussions can help shape the direction of the RIPE NCC in the coming year.
