[news] RIPE NCC Regional Meeting Report: Tehran

Dear colleagues, The first RIPE NCC Regional Meeting in Iran was recently held at the Azadi Hotel in Tehran. The meeting took place on 18 November and attracted 270 participants. More information is available here: https://www.ripe.net/ripe/meetings/regional-meetings/ripe-ncc-regional-meet… The RIPE NCC worked with local host IRNIC, the Iranian ccTLD registry, to provide the event. The day’s agenda attracted RIPE NCC members and other key players from the local and regional Internet community. Among the topics explored were RIPE NCC services and tools, IPv6 deployment strategies, Internet Exchange Points (IXPs) and Domain Name System (DNS) issues. [news] Launching the RIPE NCC Academy

Dear colleagues, The RIPE NCC is pleased to announce the launch of the RIPE NCC Academy, a virtual learning environment that allows you to take courses and obtain certificates online: https://academy.ripe.net/ The first course available is the RIPE Database Expert Course. You can sign in to the RIPE NCC Academy with your RIPE NCC Access account (if you don’t already have one, you can easily create one through the link provided). The RIPE NCC Academy is available to everyone, free of charge. Before starting a course, you should know that: - You have 90 days to complete the course from the moment you start it. - We are working to automate the evaluation of all of the activities. In the meantime, some of them need to be checked manually, so you may have to wait for a trainer to review them. - If you’re very confident that you already know all you need to know about the RIPE Database, you can choose to complete the activities without studying the content. - You will earn a certificate when you achieve a score of 70% or better, including all the activities and the final test. - Your certificate will remain valid for three years. The first 100 users to earn a certificate will get a limited edition RIPE NCC Academy Graduate t-shirt. Don’t wait too long - graduate to the next level today! [news] RIPE Community Selects CRISP Team Members

Dear colleagues, Following an open call for community volunteers, the RIPE Chair, Hans Peter Holen, has confirmed the appointment of two individuals from the RIPE community to the Consolidated RIR IANA Stewardship (CRISP) team. Nurani Nimpuno, Head of Outreach & Communications at Netnod, and Andrei Robachevsky, Technology Programme Manager at the Internet Society will join Paul Rendek, RIPE NCC Director of External Relations, as the three CRISP representatives from this service region. The CRISP team will develop a single, consolidated proposal on behalf of the Internet numbering community for the future stewardship of the IANA functions. This work will be based on the output of discussions in the five RIR communities. Each community will select two community members and one RIR staff member by 15 November to participate in the CRISP team. All of the CRISP team’s work will be done transparently, via a public mailing list: ianaxfer(a)nro.net. [GM] RIPE NCC General Meeting November 2014

Dear members, The RIPE NCC General Meeting (GM) was held 5-7 November 2014 adjacent to the RIPE 69 Meeting in London. There were 186 attendees, including RIPE NCC staff and observers from the other Regional Internet Registries (RIRs). There was one resolution to be voted on at the General Meeting. The result of the voting on the resolution is as follows: Resolution - The General Meeting approves the updated RIPE NCC Standard Service Agreement Yes - 286 No - 4 Abstain - 35 The resolution passed.
