Dear RIPE NCC members, The RIPE NCC Executive Board held its 121st Meeting on 15 March 2019. The draft minutes of this meeting are now available: https://www.ripe.net/about-us/executive-board/minutes/2019/minutes-121st-ri… The Executive Board publishes the minutes of its meetings so that the workings of the Board and the decisions it makes are transparent for the membership that it represents. The following is a summary of the main items from the meeting. Further details are available in the minutes. - The RIPE NCC Executive Board approved the following RIPE NCC documents: "Amendments to RIPE NCC Services for Legacy Internet Resources of RIPE NCC Members Terms and Conditions", "Amendments to Meeting Registration Terms & Conditions", and "Amendments to Closure of Members, Deregistration of Internet Resources and Legacy Internet Resources procedure". - The RIPE NCC Executive Board reviewed the Draft RIPE NCC Annual Report 2018 and the Draft RIPE NCC Financial Report 2018. - The RIPE NCC Executive Board approved the publication of the draft agenda for the May 2019 RIPE NCC General Meeting. - The RIPE NCC Executive Board was presented with a report on the current Integrated Risk Management Project. RIPE Database release 1.93 mainly contains improvements in the validation rules, including email address validation, validation for bogon space in route(6) and validation for expired public keys when authenticating updates. We are busy validating abuse contacts referenced in LIR organisation objects since 20 February. We have already fixed and confirmed valid around 1,700 email addresses that failed the automated test. LIRs with abuse contacts that are maintained by third parties (e.g. End Users) are especially encouraged to think about reviewing this information sooner rather than later. Confirmed hijackers with resources from the RIPE NCC could face consequences if this proposed policy reaches a consensus. Network professionals from seven countries joined us to work on practical aspects of routing security. [news] RIPE NCC Receives /23 from IANA’s Recovered Pool

Dear colleagues, On 1 March 2019, the RIPE NCC and the other Regional Internet Registries (RIRs) were each allocated the equivalent of a /23 of IPv4 address space from the Internet Assigned Numbers Authority (IANA). We received the following IPv4 address ranges: 160.20.229.0/24 192.94.78.0/24 This returned address space will be added to our free pool and distributed according to the current IPv4 policy. LIRs that have already received their final /22 are NOT eligible to receive any further allocations from the RIPE NCC. You can find the IPv4 policy here: https://www.ripe.net/publications/docs/ripe-708 Following the exhaustion of IANA's free pool of IPv4 addresses in 2011, when the RIRs received their final /8s, a global policy caused IANA to create a recovered pool of leftover and returned IPv4 address blocks. This policy was ratified by all five RIR communities in 2012 and stated that IANA would begin making equal, periodic allocations from the recovered pool when the first RIR reached a /9 of remaining addresses. This point was reached by LACNIC, the RIR for Latin America and the Caribbean on 20 May 2014, triggering the global policy and the first post-exhaustion allocation from IANA.
