FW: [ripe-list] Discussion about Charging Scheme to RIPE NCC Members List
Dear members, Please see attached a positioning document issued by us (ANISP / RoNIX) related to the charging scheme and other conversations that were exchanged on the RIPE community list (example attached). ** *Dear Tiberiu Gîndu,* * Thank you for this feedback from the ANISP / RoNIX. It is much appreciated. I would like to emphasise that all charging ideas shared in the consultation phase were intended for discussion only and to generate exactly the type of input you have shared with us. While I am not in a position to speak for the Executive Board, the feedback from our members on the idea of a PI fee increase to EUR 1,000 was very negative for many reasons, including those you put forward. So the RIPE NCC will recommend to the Executive Board that we do notput this idea forward for a vote at the General Meeting. It has become apparent to me that the information I have shared has been seen as a concrete proposal rather than an idea to be discussed among members. We have heard the feedback that this idea is not acceptable, which allows us to focus on those ideas that we have seen gain support among members. Lastly, I would like to understand a specific point made in your letter. You say that the category and formula models are unfair on small and medium-sized members, so you would like to see the current one LIR account-one fee model on the voting ballot. This model would see the continuation of small LIRs paying exactly the same as the largest LIRs, while the other proposed models would see us start to differentiate between smaller and larger based on IP holdings. We have seen this argument from other members during the consultation, so we would like to understand from those who prefer large differentiation or no differentiation, why they would prefer that to the proposed models that make a distinction between the smallest and largest resource holders. Dear colleagues,
Please note that conversations related to the RIPE NCC budget and charging scheme should take place on the RIPE NCC members list and not on the RIPE community list:
