Which is, I think, part of the problem here. The Internet works because many different companies that all compete with each other business-wise have to cooperate to "make that thing work", and this is really helped by having people to talk to, get and offer advice, and so on. Namely, a community of network folks. So, I see "community building" and "keep the governments off our backs" (by outreach, training, etc.) as fundamental pillars of the work the RIPE NCC does, for all of us.
