Hello, All this is *obviously* not working. for X in `jot 10` ; do whois -h whois.ripe.net ORG-PTEC${X}-RIPE ; done In my humble opinion until a "per exhaustable resource usage" fee is set up, such that who has zillions of unused IPv4 addresses pays willions euros any attempt to reasonably contain resource misuse ends up in comic situations. It has been said many times, and still remains ignored (no, the issue of "If RIPE sells IP addresses becomes a commercial entity" is not a good reason: first of all we had per-usage fees since always, secondly right NOW in THIS way RIPE is, de facto, selling IPv4 addresses, at the price of 3 euro each). LOL. Multiply LIR registration looks like RIPE NCC sell IPv4 for 3 EUR. Great!!!!

Of course there were not any notifications. I suppose, that main reason to run with such decision so fast is the fact, that somebody during GM just asked to open simultaneously for example 64 LIRs to get /16 equivalent in one shot. Expensive, but plausible.

I think it is reasonable to hold this decision for 2 weeks. Many companies planned their work and they cannot make any changes in their work so fast. There were not any notifications.

Took 7 years: https://www.ripe.net/ripe/mail/archives/address-policy-wg/2008-December/0039... Now lets see how they solve the problem.
That problem was solved in 2012 via a change in AoA. This is a different discussion.
