Fellow members,
I have received multiple times (to many of the LIRs I manage contact emails), this night, an e-mail coming from a RIPE NCC Board candidate, who promotes his candidacy. Be his candidacy admissible and decent or not, is not the point. But, is that kind of mass-mailing correct ?
Is there an abuse contact for such a behaviour ?
Yes, a lot of people were spammed by Elad Cohen on their operational mail contacts. And on every RIPE member contact information there is this clear footer: Apart from agreed Internet operational purposes, no part of this information may be reproduced, stored in a retrieval system or transmitted, in any form or by any means (electronic, mechanical, recorded or otherwise), without prior permission of the RIPE NCC. Any use of this information to target advertising, or similar activities, is explicitly forbidden and may be prosecuted. The RIPE NCC requests notification of any such activities or suspicions thereof. So no, this is very much not correct but also no surprise after his behaviour here. I contacted the RIPE NCC about this newest abuse of his. I think he should be nowhere near any position at the RIPE NCC or this community and hope people vote accordingly. Best Regards Sebastian
