Dear Colleagues, At the RIPE NCC General Meeting (GM) October 2009 in Lisbon, the RIPE NCC Articles of Association were amended, and approved, to allow for electronic voting for the RIPE NCC Executive Board elections. At the upcoming GM in Prague, Czech Republic on 5 May 2010, the RIPE NCC Executive Board elections will, for the first time, allow remote attendees to vote electronically in the elections for the Executive Board seats. Those attending the GM on site can vote using the traditional paper ballot method. The RIPE NCC has engaged BigPulse, a third party that specialises in web-based voting solutions, to conduct the poll. Today, 6 April 2010, you will receive an email from the RIPE NCC inviting you to register for electronic voting with the BigPulse system. You should follow the instructions in the invitation email if you wish to register for electronic voting. The deadline to register for electronic voting is 21 April 2010. Dear RIPE NCC member, The RIPE NCC Executive Board reminds you that this Wednesday, 21 April 2010, at 23:59 UTC is the deadline for: - Online registration for the RIPE NCC General Meeting (GM) - Submitting proxy forms - Proposing resolutions to be voted upon at the GM - Registering to vote electronically in the Executive Board elections - Submitting a copy of your passport or ID to confirm registration to vote electronically *Important Note* Due to continued air traffic disruption in western Europe, members planning to attend the GM are encouraged to register for electronic voting in case the disruption causes them to be unable to attend the meeting. This will ensure that they are able to cast their votes in the RIPE NCC Executive Board elections. The GM will be held on Wednesday, 5 May 2010 from 16:00-20:30. It will be held adjacent to the RIPE 60 Meeting, which takes place from 3-7 May 2010 at the Prague Marriot Hotel in the Czech Republic. Dear RIPE NCC member, The RIPE NCC is making a last call for nominations to the RIPE NCC Executive Board. The vacant seats are for two three-year terms and are to fill the places currently held by Nigel Titley and Jánoz Zsakó, whose terms expire in May 2010. Voting for the appointment of the RIPE NCC Executive Board members will take place at the upcoming RIPE NCC General Meeting (GM). The GM will be held on Wednesday, 5 May 2010 from 16:00-19:00 (CEST), adjacent to the RIPE 60 Meeting, which takes place from 3-7 May 2010 at the Prague Marriott Hotel, Czech Republic. You must be registered for the GM if you wish to attend and vote in the Executive Board election. If you would like to vote but cannot attend the GM, there are two options that will allow you to vote in the Executive Board elections: Electronic Voting All RIPE NCC members who are registered contacts were emailed invitations on 6 April 2010 to register to vote electronically at the GM. If you wish to vote electronically, you must register to do so by 23:59 (UTC) on 21 April 2010. Global routing problem with 178.0.0.0/8 - Update your IANA filter lists

Dear Colleagues, together with some other LIR's we've discovered there are several issues with allocations/assignments made within the 178.0.0.0/8 range. Seemingly there are some server/router administrators/companies out there which don't regular update their IANA Allocation list. We've observed that a lot of networks are unreachable if we use IPs out of the 178.0.0.0/8 range. The same observation also made other LIR's we know. After contacting these networks (from MD, RO, RU, DE, and other counties), we figured out that they all reported they had firewall/filter rules using a IANA allocation list, and their list reported 178/8 to be "iana-reserved" or "iana-unallocated". The network 178.0.0.0/8 were allocated on January 2009 to the RIPE NCC, hence these operators haven't updated their lists for more than 1 year. I guess the filter was set up once without taking into account that currently unallocated networks might get allocated later on. This problem concerns everyone at the moment, especially people with allocations from 178.0.0.0/8. I ask every one of you to check if you use an iana filter list or if possible, notify your clients, data centers and so on to check and if necessary update their lists. The GM will be held adjacent to the RIPE 60 Meeting, which takes place from 3-7 May 2010 at the Prague Marriot Hotel in the Czech Republic. The GM will consist of two parts: * The RIPE NCC Services Working Group session will begin at 16:00 and will include the presentation of the report from the RIPE NCC. This part of the GM is open to everyone. * The second part of the GM follows immediately after the RIPE NCC Services Working Group session and is only open to RIPE NCC members who have registered for the GM. This part of the meeting is the forum in which RIPE NCC members can discuss the operations and activities of the RIPE NCC and exercise their voting rights.
