[ncc-announce] Reduction in IPv4 Allocation/Assignment Time Period

Dear Colleagues, From Thursday, 1 July 2010, the RIPE NCC will start to allocate enough IPv4 address space to Local Internet Registries (LIRs) to meet their needs for a period of up to nine months. The RIPE NCC and the LIRs will also start to assign enough address space to meet the requester needs for a period of up to nine months. We ask that you please note this change from the current 12-month period. This change is in accordance with RIPE Policy Proposal 2009-03, "Run Out Fairly". Dear members, Following the launch of electronic voting at the May 2010 RIPE NCC General Meeting in Prague and the discussion that followed, the RIPE NCC is conducting a Voting Evaluation Survey to receive feedback from its members on all aspects of the voting procedures and methods employed by the RIPE NCC. The Voting Evaluation Survey is now online, and we encourage all members of the RIPE NCC to participate: http://www.ripe.net/membership/gm/gm-may2010/survey/ The two main goals of the Voting Evaluation Survey are to: - Determine ways to increase participation at RIPE NCC elections - Improve the voting process for those members who vote at RIPE NCC elections To better understand the wishes of the membership, we ask that members who do not usually participate in RIPE NCC elections, as well as those who do, to participate in this survey. All feedback is anonymous, and the survey should take less than five minutes to complete. The results of the survey will provide the RIPE NCC Executive Board and Senior Management with valuable feedback on RIPE NCC elections, and the findings will be presented to the membership at the next RIPE NCC General Meeting for its consideration. [Apologies for duplicates] Dear Colleagues, As announced at RIPE 60 in Prague, GNKS Consult and TNO are working with the RIPE NCC to repeat the 2009 survey on the current and future use of IPv6 throughout the RIPE NCC service region. The IPv6 Deployment Monitoring Survey is now online, and we encourage all members of the RIPE community to participate: http://www.surveymonkey.com/s/IPv6deploymentmonitoring2010 The purpose of the survey is to better understand where the community is moving, and what can be done to ensure the Internet community is ready for the widespread adoption of IPv6. As it is mostly the same as the survey carried out in 2009, comparison of progress will be possible. In addition, RIPE community participation will contribute to a better understanding of the global situation, as APNIC, AfriNIC and LACNIC will also send out the request to participate to their communities. We encourage all organisations in the RIPE NCC service region to participate in this survey, which we hope will establish a comprehensive view of present IPv6 penetration and future plans for IPv6 deployment. The survey is composed of 23 questions and can be completed in about 15 minutes. For those without IPv6 allocations or assignments, or who have not yet deployed IPv6, the questions will be fewer in number. The survey will close on 1 July 2010. Results of the IPv6 Deployment Monitoring Survey will be presented and discussed at RIPE 61, which will be held 15-19 November in Rome, Italy. [ncc-announce] 2007-01 Policy Implementation - Phase Two Deadline Extended

[Apologies for duplicate emails] Dear Colleagues, The RIPE NCC has once more extended the deadline for Phase Two of the 2007-01 policy implementation ("Contractual Requirements for Provider Independent Resource Holders in the RIPE NCC Service Region"). This decision is based upon feedback and input received from the RIPE community during RIPE 60 regarding the implementation of Phase Three of policy proposal 2007-01. In Phase Three the RIPE NCC will contact all holders of independent Internet resources who, at the end of Phase Two, have not signed an agreement with either a sponsoring LIR or the RIPE NCC regarding the registration of the resources assigned to them. The RIPE NCC will draft a procedural document for Phase Three and make it available for review on the NCC Services Working Group Mailing List in the near future. The deadline extension will also allow LIRs some more time to provide the necessary documentation for any independent Internet resources that they marked as "My End User" during the first step of Phase Two of the policy implementation. It is hoped that this will reduce the number of resource holders to be contacted in Phase Three of the policy implementation. The start of Phase Three is scheduled to begin after the RIPE 61 Meeting in November 2010. The RIPE NCC will update the community regarding definite timelines for the end of Phase Two, the start of Phase Three and other topics related to the policy implementation on the NCC Services Working Group Mailing List. [ncc-announce] RIPE NCC Executive Board Election Results

Dear Colleagues, The RIPE NCC General Meeting was held Wednesday, 5 May 2010, adjacent to the RIPE 60 Meeting at the Prague Marriott Hotel in the Czech Republic. The meeting agenda included an election to fill two RIPE NCC Executive Board seats for three-year terms. Nigel Titley and Remco van Mook were elected by the membership to take the available seats on the Executive Board. There were 84 attendees, excluding RIPE NCC staff and observers from the other Regional Internet Registries. In addition to the Executive Board election, the RIPE NCC members approved two resolutions. The RIPE NCC 2009 Audited Financial Report was approved. And the RIPE NCC Executive Board was discharged with regard to its actions as set out in the 2009 Annual Report. The RIPE NCC would like to thank its membership for the input and support given at the General Meeting and congratulates our newly elected Executive Board members. Dear Colleagues, At the RIPE NCC General Meeting (GM) October 2009 in Lisbon, the RIPE NCC Articles of Association were amended, and approved, to allow for electronic voting for the RIPE NCC Executive Board elections. At the upcoming GM in Prague, Czech Republic on 5 May 2010, the RIPE NCC Executive Board elections will, for the first time, allow remote attendees to vote electronically in the elections for the Executive Board seats. Those attending the GM on site can vote using the traditional paper ballot method. The RIPE NCC has engaged BigPulse, a third party that specialises in web-based voting solutions, to conduct the poll. Today, 6 April 2010, you will receive an email from the RIPE NCC inviting you to register for electronic voting with the BigPulse system. You should follow the instructions in the invitation email if you wish to register for electronic voting. The deadline to register for electronic voting is 21 April 2010. Dear RIPE NCC member, The RIPE NCC Executive Board reminds you that this Wednesday, 21 April 2010, at 23:59 UTC is the deadline for: - Online registration for the RIPE NCC General Meeting (GM) - Submitting proxy forms - Proposing resolutions to be voted upon at the GM - Registering to vote electronically in the Executive Board elections - Submitting a copy of your passport or ID to confirm registration to vote electronically *Important Note* Due to continued air traffic disruption in western Europe, members planning to attend the GM are encouraged to register for electronic voting in case the disruption causes them to be unable to attend the meeting. This will ensure that they are able to cast their votes in the RIPE NCC Executive Board elections. The GM will be held on Wednesday, 5 May 2010 from 16:00-20:30. It will be held adjacent to the RIPE 60 Meeting, which takes place from 3-7 May 2010 at the Prague Marriot Hotel in the Czech Republic. For the first time, members will be able to join the GM remotely via webcast. Details on how to access the GM webcast will be emailed to members before the meeting.
