Hi! RIPE NCC publishes the list of countries and corresponding RIRs here: https://www.ripe.net/participate/internet-governance/internet-technical-com…. Unfortunately, it's an HTML page and not a plain text/CSV/JSON/XML (or any other format one can parse automatically). Does IANA (or any other body) publish it this way? Actually, what would be the proper way to map a country (or country code) to the respective RIR? Thank you!

Improvements to the members-discuss Mailing List

Dear RIPE NCC members, The members-discuss mailing list is the main forum for members to discuss issues of importance for the membership among themselves. However, subscribed members have increasingly experienced problems when many people requested to unsubscribe on the list, resulting in unwanted email for all subscribers. In response to requests to address this issue, we have made improvements to the subscribe and unsubscribe options for the RIPE NCC Membership Discussion mailing list. A summary of the changes is as follows: Subscribing - Subscription to the list is carried out in the usual way via the Subscribed Mailing Lists section in https://my.ripe.net. - All members who subscribe to members-discuss will receive an email asking them to confirm their subscription. Once members confirm subscription, they will receive a welcome email with a password and instructions on how to unsubscribe. - The option to subscribe has been removed from the New LIR sign-up process. Instead, members receive an email six months after activation informing them of their full member status and how to join the members discuss list. Unsubscribing Members can now unsubscribe from the list in three ways: - By clicking a personalised unsubscribe link that appears in the footer of emails they receive from the members-discuss list. You will need to use the password you received when subscribing (a forgot password functionality is available). The personalised link will also show the email address that you are subscribed to the list with. This will help to address issues with people subscribed via a role account or alias. - By sending an email to members-discuss(a)ripe.net with the subject "unsubscribe". - Unsubscribing from the list is possible in the usual way via the Subscribed Mailing Lists section in https://my.ripe.net. Members will receive an email asking them to confirm unsubscription. The members-discuss list is currently moderated but we plan to remove moderation shortly. Email issues with RIPE NCC for new LIRs

Dear all! I would like to bring one new issue with RIPE NCC to public. This situation mostly rely on new members and new LIRs. RIPE NCC started to censor email names and filter them as much as they want. And that also depends from RIPE NCC staff that take a ticket. This makes delays in ticket processing because we spend about 1-2 weeks already for new company LIRs because RIPE NCC staff refuse to continue until they see the email name they like and we have to create email by email so they like it I found this completely inconvenient, useful and unfriendly. This situation should be changed. Last months RIPE NCC changed a lot of things in the usual work and become harder to do simplest things with RIPE NCC staff. Currently RIPE stopped to accept my personal email that I use for almost 10 years. This email contains from one symbol in it's name. Please see some examples ------- In order for our Registration Department to be able to process resources requests, LIRs must first have a personal SSO account. Generic role SSO accounts such as info(a)ripe.net etc. cannot be accepted. We require a personal SSO account such as: Johnsmith(a)ripe.net for example. The email provided 1(a)ntx.ru cannot be accepted. ... Nicole Castaibert (RIPE NCC Support) --------- All nicknames, short names, names of the company in email also not accepted by RIPE NCC anymore. So we have to create new emails and use new emails with some name in it. But the main useless of all of that - that new LIR can change registration account email after LIR registration done. So this all they require is useless. That takes my time, time of my staff, time of RIPE NCC staff that get paid from LIR members fees. Database Abuse

Hi all, Every so often this issue crops up it's ugly head again, RIPE DB abuse is a real problem. Yet again we are receiving unsolicited sales pitches via an e-mail address we only use for the contact details in our RIPE DB entries. We've all seen it; people offering to buy IPv4 blocks, people offering to sell IPv4 blocks, DDoS filtering, etc. It's a plague of poorly constructed pitches for services none of us want to waste time reading about. If we want such products, we all know how find them, and yet the e-mails don't stop coming. I am not one for publicly shaming other members of the community, but if it doesn't stop, I don't see how I have a choice. They need to learn that database abuse leads to boycott. The database is an operations tool for de-bugging and reporting issues & abuse; not a sales team's list of "potential leads". I hate to bring this subject up again, but is there really nothing structural we can do about this? At a minimum we could occlude e-mail addresses from the public DB, instead having public complaint submitted via a webform on the NCC website, requiring the uninitiated to realise this is an abuse / complaint contact, not a sales opportunity. Which is, to a certain extent, a requirement. But that's not the real issue, I don't mind people knowing my name, I just want a world where NOC and Abuse contacts aren't be spammed with sales pitches constantly. Moderation Enabled on Members-Discuss/Subscription Information

Dear colleagues, Due to the number of unsubscribe requests, we have temporarily enabled moderation on <members-discuss(a)ripe.net>. We will disable this once these emails cease. We will also make sure appropriate messages are put through to the list. If you are receiving these emails and you did not subscribe to the members-discuss list, it is possible that a colleague subscribed you or a role account/email alias that you use.
