Re: [ncc-announce] [news] RIPE NCC Member Update: November 2024
Hi, Would it be possible to also send the monthly membership update in the old-fashioned plain-text-in-the-mail with the option to view it on the web, i.e. revert to the pre-July 2023 format? I know there are pros and cons for both options, such as the ability to measure how many members click on the link / are interested in the update, but it would be more user-friendly to be able to search through my own email archive instead of the RIPE NCC website. Thank you! Radu On 28.11.2024 17:25, Kjerstin Burdiek wrote:
Dear RIPE NCC members,
The November 2024 Member Update is now available on our website: https://www.ripe.net/about-us/news/member-update/member-update-november-2024...
This month’s update includes important reminders to check your billing information and submit any LIR closure requests before the end of the year, as we’ll be preparing invoices soon. We also remind you that the RIPE NCC Charging Scheme 2025 introduces changes to fees for independent resources held or sponsored by members, so please review all independent resources currently registered to or sponsored through your LIR account and update them if needed.

Hear, hear! +1 Note: I'm not against having it on the web also, but having to live my life bouncing around keeping track of which web sites to visit at which points in time without being able to search through the information, is not a life. It's so much better to have the information brought to me, so I have it in one place – my inbox. Hello! +1. I agree with Radu, Gert and Lars-Johan. I prefer to have the information in my mailbox even if (or even better if) it is not formatted in a very fancy way. Best regards Janos On 29/11/2024 09:47, Gert Doering wrote:

For what it's worth, I will sometimes read the email, I will never click through onto a website. So for me, personally, any benefit in tracking and user statistics is non-existent as I'll simply not consume the update. Sent by mobile; please excuse my brevity.

Dear Radu, all, We can return to sending out the Member Update in plaintext. We will also continue posting the update on the website, where we can include graphics and photos that will not be in the plaintext version. We’ll link to the website version in the plaintext email so that members are free to choose which version they prefer to read. Kind regards, Kjerstin Burdiek Communications Officer RIPE NCC
