If the transition to IPv6 has not taken place for so many years, then something has gone wrong.
Deployment of IPv6 is going well in many places around the world, in certain countries, such as France and Germany, we observe more IPv6 traffic than IPv4 (in fact, it's not even that bad in Russia now); and some operators no longer provide IPv4 connectivity. Yes, it should have happened more than 15 years ago. The problem exists because resource hoarders thought they had more than enough, because they could not think of that many devices requiring connectivity, and/or often because they did not care about the Internet or even understand what its principles of functioning are. So, resource hoarding is a problem inherent to IPv4; and that problem is made worse by those that do nothing to help with the transition. Hence, why should we have sympathy for those that contribute to the problem and not the solution?
