Hi Ben, You are not losing your mind :-) While preparing the changes for February 1st we spotted an anomaly in the fast-paced beacon schedule. The beacon is supposed to be announced every 10 minutes and then withdrawn every 10 minutes. As you mentioned below, the description of the old schedule was "Announcements at XX:10, XX:30, XX:50". However, due to a software issue the announcement at 23:50 was actually not implemented. Because of this there was a 30 minute gap each day between 23:40 and 00:10. Since the announced changes on February 1st required us to stop all announcements, we used the opportunity to fix this issue. The existing announcements were shifted by 10 minutes in the process. The schedule mentioned on the website (Announcements at XX:00, XX:20, XX:40) now matches what is implemented. Apologies for not explicitly mentioning this. Kind regards, Martin On 06/02/2024 20:59, Ben Cartwright-Cox via mat-wg wrote:
Hey all,
Did anyone know why the "Fast-paced beacons" that RIS provides has swapped schedules from
Announcements at XX:10, XX:30, XX:50 Withdrawals at XX:00, XX:20, XX:40
to
Announcements at XX:00, XX:20, XX:40 Withdrawals at XX:10, XX:30, XX:50
?
Sadly the internet archive does not archive https://ris.ripe.net/docs/routing-beacons/ page so I have no web page proof. However I did copy and paste the schedule into a code comment and as far as I can tell, the schedule "inverted" on 2024-02-01 at 09:10 UTC.
Any ideas? Am I finally losing my mind? I see that there were changes scheduled to be made on February 1st 2024 ( https://www.ripe.net/ripe/mail/archives/ris-users/2023-December/000755.html ), But they did not mention changing the schedules of the fast paced beacons!
Thanks Ben
