This view shows paths to six selected nodes inside Egypt, before and during the disconnection: https://www.internetperils.com/perilwatch/20110127.php The timing matches what RIPE saw, and the order matches what Renesys saw. This view is not based on BGP routes; it is derived from regular probes (every 15 minutes) showing hops along the way, and thus shows detail of paths from several cameras outside Egypt to the selected destinations. None of those destinations have reappeared yet. -jsq

Comments on RIPEstat

Hey all, As Mirjam announced a few days ago, RIPE NCC debuted their RIPEstat toolbox this morning: <http://stat.ripe.net/> RIPEstat is naturally in a very early state of development, and community feedback is going to be critical for figuring out how it matures, what new features get added, etc. So I thought I would start a thread where people could post any comments they have on the RIPEstat beta. To start, here are my comments: -- Overall, I think the tool is pretty well designed. The interface is very simple, and the results clearly presented. I like that different types of results are displayed in content-appropriate formats (table vs. pie-chart vs. bar-graph). -- The purely text-based interface might be -- I would appreciate it if the sources of metrics could be more clearly identified. For example, it's a little hard to interpret BGP data if you don't know where it's being collected. The "methodology" links on REX did a good job of explaining this sort of thing, so maybe they could be ported over to the new tool? -- In a similar vein, I notice that the time span for things like the stability graphs is fixed. Would be nice to have it adjustable, like in REX. -- It would be really cool if I could download the underlying data whenever there's a chart presented. Seems like that these little micro-data-sets could be cached along with the rest of the results. What does everyone else think? Best, --Richard

Public demo sessions to develop RIPEstat Toolbox

RIPE NCC Demo Dates

Good morning, and a happy, healthy and prosperous 2011 to all of you! In 2011 we plan to develop RIPE NCC information services a little more interactively than before. We will solicit feedback from you actively and we want you to try our new services early, so we can develop what you like and discard what noone uses. To this end we will be holding public demo sessions once a month at 1130-1200 Amsterdam and on these dates: Tuesday 25th January Tuesday 22nd February Tuesday 22nd March Tuesday 19th April Tuesday 18th May Tuesday 14th June Tuesday 12th July Tuesday 9th August Tuesday 6th September Tuesday 4th October Tuesday 1st November (NB: During RIPE63) Tuesday 29th November Tuesday 27th December (tentative...) Save those in your calendar. We will be using Webex for these demos (ripencc.webex.com) and publish short summaries on RIPE Labs for those who cannot attend.
