atlas feature - path mtu

Some suggestions for stat.ripe.net

Hi! I think that this is a great project! It has a nice interface and is very useful to get an "one page" info for everything. Excelent work! I have a few sugestions for the new system that I think can improve the value of this project: * Add an input field for each box, so the owner of the resource (or maybe anyone, I haven't think this too hard) can add more info about that particular item (ie: on geolocation, add the "true" location, on assignments within allocation - well, it's obvious :-P) * On the visibility test, when you get a "!" and a porcentage (let's say, 80%) it would be great to know if there was 80% of the probes over there that wasn't able to "see" the resource, or if 80% of the time was not visible, or if 80% of the times failed to check. Anyhow, I think it would be great to know more about this topic. If something failed, the hour of the fail, or the route to get to that resource. * Can you add a new box for do some kind of lookinglass over the resource from different locations/peers? that would be awesome! When i have to test some anycast cloud, i have to fly all over the looking glass that i can find, and then do my own analysis. FW: IP Address utilization of The LIRs

Dear all, There was a question probably from Daniel that he asked what LIR want to see on stats web page. As a LIR, I want to see IP address utilization for my AS when I query my AS from stat web site. It would be very nice if we get this information per prefix level. I think we can achieve this using netflow (without using confidential information) information. We can tell each LIR to send netflow data (only source,destination address and AS information. No protocol,port & traffic information to avoid confidential data) to distributed RIPE netflow servers. In the MAT-GW presentation, Arbor Atlas presented that they are getting hourly data from 129 different provider. I think we can use this information as well to find exact utilization of the IP Address space of each AS. I'm looking forward to go for IPv6 in my network as well but there is fact that most of the network, access devices doesn't support IPv6 yet. So there is still big demand for IPv4 and I'm sure we have some LIR that they are less than %50 utilization of IP Address. We can take this IPs from these LIRs if they don't have a plan to use this addresses recently and give it to LIRs which they are really need this. This will more give a time to world to move IPv6. New feature from stat / ris - route-flap-dampening analysis

Hi, I had an idea today morning of what would really interest me: Yesterday there was a short discussion if route-flap-dampening is good or bad or ... If I intend to implement route-flap-dampening it would be nice, if I would be able to know in advance, how my configuration of route-flap dampening would have acted in the past. So: - Enter a prefix - enter parameters for route-flap-dampening - press start Then RIS makes an analysis of the "bgp-history" of the prefix and gets as result if and from when to when your prefix would have been dampened according to the parameters of flap-dampening you entered at start. So you get the probability to play around _before_ eventually configuring route-flap-dampening.
