Hi all, RIPE 93 will take place 26-30 October in Sofia. We are seeking presentations for the MAT WG session, scheduled for Tuesday, 27 October! Interesting topics include (but are not limited to): * Measurement research which has an operational impact * Operational initiatives that could inspire new research directions * Projects focused on network data collection * Tools for network data analysis and visualization * Innovative measurement techniques and proposals Proposals can be submitted through the Pretalx submission system: https://pretalx.ripe.net/ripe-93/ The submission form will ask you for various details. Please select the MAT track, and include a title and abstract: if accepted these will become part of the public agenda. For our evaluation, please include the following in your proposal: * A draft slide deck (an outline is okay). ================================================================ CALL FOR PAPERS NewGeo 2026 New Directions in IP Geolocation Workshop Co-located with ACM IMC 2026 Karlsruhe, Germany - Monday, October 12, 2026 https://newgeo-workshop.github.io/ ================================================================ IP geolocation -- the ability for a third party to map an IPv4 or IPv6 address to its physical location -- is a foundational building block for Internet services, network management and operations, policy enforcement, security, and regulatory compliance. As the accuracy and coverage of IP geolocation is becoming increasingly critical, not only are the underlying mechanisms insufficiently understood, they are increasingly challenged by architectural shifts in the Internet and evolving services. The December 2025 IAB Workshop on IP Address Geolocation surfaced fundamental open questions about accuracy and integrity, the limitations of self-publishing mechanisms such as geofeeds (RFC 8805), and architectural tensions between passive location inference and evolving privacy expectations, and its report explicitly recommends further research. At the same time, IPv6 adoption, VPNs and relay services, CGNAT, satellite-based access, and regulatory frameworks such as the EU's GDPR and Digital Services Act all challenge current geolocation assumptions. The NewGeo workshop seeks to provide a focused forum on IP geolocation to consolidate findings, compare methodologies, benchmark datasets, build shared infrastructure, bring together academia and industry, and discuss common challenges and future research directions. NewGeo 2026 invites original research contributions that advance our understanding of IP geolocation. TOPICS OF INTEREST ------------------ We solicit short papers on topics including, but not limited to: * Measurement and analysis of IP geolocation databases (e.g., geofeeds) * Novel active and passive geolocation techniques that accommodate emerging Internet architectures (VPNs, relays, cellular and mobile, IPv6, CGNAT, address sharing, etc.) * Geolocation challenges and approaches for satellite-based and deep space Internet access * Ground truth collection methodologies and benchmark datasets * Artificial Intelligence-based approaches for IP geolocation, validation, or verification * Longitudinal studies of geolocation accuracy and database evolution * Applications and implications of IP geolocation for content delivery, regulatory compliance, fraud detection, and censorship measurement * Privacy implications of IP geolocation and location inference * Reproducibility studies of previously published geolocation measurement work SUBMISSION GUIDELINES --------------------- Submissions must be original work not previously published and not under review elsewhere. Papers should be at most 4 pages in length, excluding references and an optional one-page appendix. Reviewers are not required to read the one-page appendix. Papers must be formatted according to the ACM two-column 10 point font sigconf style: https://www.acm.org/publications/proceedings-template All submissions will undergo double-blind peer review by the program committee, so please anonymize your submission. Authors must adhere to the ACM's author guidelines on the use of Generative AI: https://www.acm.org/publications/policies/frequently-asked-questions Papers violating the submission guidelines will be desk-rejected. Accepted papers will be presented at the workshop, and at least one author of each paper is expected to attend in person. Authors are encouraged to make their measurement data and analysis code available to support reproducibility. RIS bview files 1-3-2026 and 21-5-2026 downloaded after 26-5

Dear colleagues, We have identified a misconfiguration in the pipeline that publishes RIS bview files to data.ris.ripe.net, and are giving early notice. As part of an infrastructure change on 27 May 2026, the publishing pipeline re-copied historical bview files produced after February 2022. This had two effects: * File modification timestamps changed for historical bview files published after February 2022. * Some bview files produced between 1 March 2026 and 21 May 2026 may be incomplete. This affects copies of files downloaded after 26 May 2026. For the incomplete files, the likely impact is that data from some RIS peers may be missing from the affected bviews. The data has not been lost. We have multiple copies available and expect to fully recover the affected files after the weekend. In the meantime, data consumers who rely on file modification timestamps, or who downloaded bview files for 1 March 2026-21 May 2026 after 26 May should take this into account. We reported the issue to them quite quickly in November, as we collect their data for bgproutes.io. They told us they had to change a server because many crawlers were downloading the data and overloading their infrastructure. It was apparently supposed to last only a few days, but it has now been several months. I hope they will be able to resume the platform, we really like it there!
