Abuse of RIPE Database for Junkmail
If we can find more evidence of this, I would like to take action. Any more sightings before we ask in a broader forum? The only place they could have extracted my fax number is from the RIPE database - and my interest in Israel to such a conference is minimal. Is this the start of junkfax based on your database? I think the ripe list should be polled to see if others have received such a fax and if so legal options should be persued if you don't want everyone ripping off your DB. A factual correction: EUnet's "partnership" with PACT is limited to providing Internet connectivity for the exhibition and we have no further strategic relationship with PACT; you will for instance notice that the email contact is serviced by Oleane. It seems reasonable to assume that the other companies mentioned also are not legal and/or strategic partners of PACT, but rather are sponsors of the exhibition. Moreover, for the record, we have never "tapped" the RIPE database for any kind of improper purpose, we will never do it, and we would never knowingly assist anybody in doing it.
