However, we should accept the reality that another sizeable fraction of the customers looking at those new services do indeed require "the real thing". Pointing to NAT, masquerading, you name it is not going to work. (see 1)
Looking at _my_ "residential" requirements, I am hard pressed to work without a range of fixed addresses for waht I want to use without spending all my time to reconfigure boxes: - 1 ANT - 1 router (Ethernet and tunnels (v4,v6)) - 2 "full size PCs" - 2 Laptops (my wife's and mine) - a WS with a "traditional" operating system multiple boots and peripherals on the PCs and a mixture of Linux, W95, W/NT, (Solaris8/Intel, freeBSD to come) And no, this is not a university link, this is my link to a regular commercial service. But I want to talk my university, of course... Wilfried.
